Kings @ Nets 2-14-22 7:30 PM EST

Post#141 » by NyCeEvO » Tue Feb 15, 2022 4:13 am

I commented on Drummond’s block live, but it’s even better on replay.

Read on Twitter

- He rotates and extends his arms to inhibit a shot attempt.
- He then rotates to the cutter and blocks a dunk attempt.

Defensive awareness, paint clogging, and shot blocking all in a few seconds.

think back to Bucks series. even with kyrie out.

sub Curry in for Harden (on 1 leg).
sub Mills in for Joey no buckets.
and just add Drummond into the mix making life tougher in the paint.

Nets win in 5 or 6 even before factoring in Simmons/with kyrie out.

it's a tougher east this year top to bottom but this team is so much better prepared to deal with any non-KD injuries.

I guess everyone's covered pretty much everything there is to dissect & digest in this game. I'm just glad we finally won. The vibe in this team has definitely changed for the better. When the ball keeps moving, everyone stays engaged.

Scurry is as advertised, and will surely take some pressure off Patty. Drummond has done better than expected tonight. As long as he doesn't try to do too much, too often, there will be matchups where 'Dre should be a net positive for the team. It's when he tries stuff that aren't really in his skillset that you'll see how frustrating he can be at times -- basically negating some of the possessions (rebounds) he gains for the team through bonehead plays that shifts momentum in the opposite direction.

At any rate this gives me hope that, not only have we stopped our tumble down to the play-ins, but that we may be able to crawl back to 5th or 4th seed once KD comes back. HCA or not, I think this team (if healthy) can survive a 7-game PO series against any team.

Maybe the sky isn't falling anymore?

Blake Griffin hasn't shown much this season, mainly because his 3pt shooting has fallen off a cliff, but remember how effective he was in the Bucks series against Giannis? Did better than any of our other bigs.

And at the end of the day, he's still a high IQ player that doesn't demand the ball much. I think he'll fit much better next to a full squad than Drummond will. Drummond is a guy that you play when you don't have many options. But if KD and Ben are healthy, and Kyrie somehow comes back? Drummond becomes quite useless honestly. I mean, he couldn't cut it with AD and LeBron.

I don't agree.

Drummond was in a bad spot with the Lakers team last year. Didn't use him correctly.

Hes been very good with the Sixers.

All we need him to do is rebound and give us some rim protection. Will be useful against a guy like Embiid.

I don't see him closing games for us or giving a ton of minutes. But hes definitely useful.

Clearly you haven't watch Embiid vs Drummond matchups. Embiid has torched Drummond his entire career. Like comical levels.

Solid win and Drummond adds a big that can really screen and get rebounds. Huge difference. Plus curry is as advertised and then some. Add LMA and you have that threat near the paint that opens lanes. I might be a Harden fan but I can call it like I see it. Nets clearly have a balanced team now even with the 3 stars on the bench. Good grief.

Yeah I mean, who doesn't Embiid torch? The dude is playing MVP level basketball. The idea would be to limit open three point attempts for your shooters and just weather the onslaught from Embiid while on the other end pushing the pace and scoring via KD/Kyrie and our shooters.

The trade worked for both sides. We acquired much needed balance for a top heavy roster, 76ers gained a superstar to pair with Embiid. Win/Win

Haha yeah fair enough. I liked Andre on the Sixers. Some boneheaded plays, but he hustled, and was the best backup Jo ever had. Enjoy him, to dude has a great fun personality, and didn't pout at all even though he was dealing with some of the lowest minutes of his career compared to his Pistons years.

Harden put up pretty numbers, but he was playing bad, inefficient basketball and I honestly think he was a negative impact player for most of the season, and one of the worst "stars" in the league so far this season. Him making the All-Star team was a travesty imo.

Like, I think Jarrett Allen was making WAY more of a positive contribution than Harden this year, but comparing their stat lines, and one guy is putting up 16/11 and the other is putting up 23/10/8 and has the reputation behind him. But Kyrie shielded Harden from the criticism he actually deserves imo.

Seth Curry just had a better game as a Net than 95% of Harden's games this season.

Yeah man, AD made 1 or two sketchy plays last night not gonna lie, but otherwise he was a beast on the boards, set killer screens and was locked in. We haven't had a big body like that on this roster in ages

the ball was moving, guys were running off screens. it felt liberating to watch the Nets play team basketball.

Joe Harris needs to watch how Seth plays. Dude's activity made things happen.

Seth Curry is like the best offensive role player in the league imo. He's just on another level than Harris when it comes to ball handling and on-ball shooting.

It feels good to get a win. Drummond and especially Curry provided much needed energy and spark to a lifeless team. Bruce Brown played a very good game, LMA was fantastic. Hopefully we beat the Knicks next.

Embiid will torch anyone we have.

You think Claxton or Aldridge would be better?

At least Drummond gives us rebounding.

Sixers also have nobody to guard KD btw.

That win was such a weight off our shoulders. Seth and Drummond seemed to be a real shot in the arm for the team one thing I did like about Drummond is that he brought a bit of an edge to our play. I'm so happy with the win I can't be bothered nit picking over players, we played faster as a team with real energy and we still have KD etc to come back i'm just going to enjoy the win!
