I need southron back up in this thread ASAP.

This thread is a rollercoaster. Hawks go on a streak, sothron bumps the thread. Hawks go on a slump, "haters" bump the thread.

It's hilarious. Hawks are the only team that has GB thread for ... well, for just reporting on whether they lost or won the last game.

Thank you for the kind words. I try to entertain. I love this sport, love the NBA and despite what some people think they are very, very few players or coaches or teams or even posters on this site I don't like or respect.

As for the Hawks. We were 9-3 over our last twelve and now we're losing games again. John Collins was hurt in the previous game that we lost and without him today the Hawks lost a tough game to a good team. Hats off to the Celtics for beating a Hawks team missing their second best player.

I was told that the general board wasn't supposed to be a game by game run down of any team including the Hawks for those wondering why I don't post in this thread every day.

That's why I was told to stop bumping the thread. I wasn't going to post in this again but people literally were asking me to post so...

I don't like it when people say that Trae is too small to become a good defender, that lets him off the hook too easily. If CP3 can do it then so can Trae. He just needs to put in the work.

If Trae asks an assistant coach in the summer what can he do to improve his D, there is exactly zero chance that the response will be "nothing, you're too little". Zero.

health should not be ignored when it comes to Atlanta, because there best man unit has only played in 13 games. in those 13 games they have the highest net rating among any other group. I dont know if they would be able to maintain that rating but with two-thirds of the season completed, 13 games is very limited. When they did show signs of health they were on a 7 game win steak.

What an era when we're blaming a PG for their team being 28th in defense.

It matters these days.....a lot.

Chicago knows....for awhile we thought it was the bigs. But is was really our guards constantly getting blown by. It is why the Bulls went out got Ball AND Caruso.

Everyone expected Chicago's defense to suck this year. But the defense is actually amazing (when the team is healthy), When you have a team that start Lavine, Derozen, some back-up SG at PF, and Vuc....you expect to the defense to be bad. It is amazing would a couple of top notch defensive guards can do.
Jealousy is a sickness.......get well soon....

This. There are actually very few good defensive PGs in the NBA. Expecting a guy that's maybe six feet and maybe 170 pounds to be All NBA defense is just absurd. The main problem with the Hawks defense is not Trae Young. It is the guards and wing players around him. They can't keep their guys in front of them or fight over screens. It extends out bigs our too far and exposes wide open threes.

Big win tonight against the NBA's best defense. The best point guard in the NBA had 41/9 and no one on Cleveland could remotely stop him. Beating a healthy Cavs team with our second best player out is pretty good.

I dunno. He and Jalen Green really stick out as abysmal to me when I watch them defensively and the advanced stats seem to agree. Trae gets into the right spots more than any bottom 5 defender I think I've ever seen, I don't think he's quite as lazy or confused as most terrible defenders so it's not really his fault, just lacks the height and strength to do anything once he's there.

Hawks destroyed the Magic tonight on the road on the second night of a back to back where the Magic were healthy and rested. Just absolutely destroyed them on both ends of the court. The starters sat the entire fourth quarter. Remember we still have Collins out and have no idea when he's coming back. Big win. Hawks need to have a long winning streak to solidify making the playoffs and possibly a sixth spot but just being a top 8 seed is more likely.

A big win tonight against a plucky Wizards team that kept hitting threes late in the game to keep it closer than it should have been. Collins played, looked rusty as expected but he'll get his feet under him. Two great games in a row from Hunter which we really needed to see.

We are finally back to .500 behind another amazing game by the best guard in the NBA Trae Young. 46 points and 12 assists. AMAZING game by the best guard in the NBA. It was worth repeating. At the time of this terrible thread the Hawks were 17-24 only due to injuries and the worst covid missed game situation of the entire NBA. We are now 34-34. 17-10 even with injuries since this thread was started. Appreciate the basketball karma this thread enabled the basketball gods to work their will through.
