GB thread asked who the best defensive backcourt is and Chicago (Ball/Caruso) won the poll pretty easily. Lowry/Butler #2, and then the Celtics (Smart/White/Brown) finished #3.

Am I being a massive homer to think the answer is actually Boston? Smart is the best defender of any of them, White is also very good, Jaylen is very good when he locks in and wants to be, and the size of our group gives us the advantage imo.

I voted for Boston too (yeah, I'm a homer), but like you said, Smart is the key. I think he's easily the best on-ball defender in the league, and he can defend almost anybody (even 5's). From what I've seen so far of White, he looks like a Smart - Lite.
I get it that they haven't been together long enough to prove anything (wheras Chicago and Miami's guys have), but if we are talking pure potential, I think Smart and White will end up being the best combo.

After the game last night, I think the rest of the league is having to re-think their opinion of the C's. It went from "come on, they haven't beaten anybody yet" to "Uhh, you know, it might be worth trying to avoid Boston in the playoffs!!!!"

All that really matters is the best defense.

Smart
White
Brown
Tatum
Timelord

No one is coming close to that.

From the couple games so far, I've noticed White is susceptible to being posted up by larger players. Smart can take on a forward and occasionally a center without it being a glaring mismatch. White has messed up on a few switches here and there but I think it may just be learning a new system. On the flip side, White looks a little quicker on the perimeter than Smart which is good when playing guards like Trey Young.

There's a thread on the Raps board about us. The OP and a few others are lamenting that we got better at the trade deadline and they didn't. Other Raps fans are knee jerk saying ridiculous unflattering stuff about the C's and scoffing at our trades. Some of them have made up a narrative about how the Celtics are desperate and the Jays are selfish and Brad has no idea what he's doing, etc. But others are being pretty cool and complimenting our team.

I'm not encouraging anyone to go over there and make trouble. Let's be classy please. Just, I was bored and thought it was a pretty interesting read.

I love reading other team's comments and threads (I never post, not my place), but it's a good way to get a feel of what other teams think about our players, as well as what they think of their own players. Plus it's good to see that the Celtic's Board isn't the only board with a small looney-toon fringe of posters - all teams have some of them!

Wow, Portland about to win their 4th in a row, including games against Milwaukee and now Memphis. Josh Hart is playing amazing and Simons has picked up lead scoring duties from CJ and Dame. Pretty surprising turn of events.

these wins by injured teams this season enforces the notion that playing hard can get you wins in the regular season. guys with nothing to lose and everything to gain are going to go all out, sometimes that can outdo talent.

Anytime you are breaking Wilt's record it is a little eye opening. Good for DeMar. It's cool to see a guy make such big strides late in his career.

Totally reasonable assertion.
I didn't vote for our backcourt purely because I need to see it more than a couple of games.

The nice part is you can throw Al, Theis and Grant Williams in as next guys up and it still looks good.

I do the same, and I do sometimes post, but I'm always very careful with how I word things, and imagine myself as 'in their house'.

Never had a problem, and had some pretty cool convos.

(To be clear, I read threads a lot, and post only occasionally)
