I’m pretty sure Zoya posted somewhere that our margin of victory in last 3 road wins of about 105 is an NBA record. What’s also interesting is that the next 3-4 teams after them all played in NBA finals.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Sorry if it's already been brought up in a discussion but the TV just told me that in the game against Philly it was the first time in the 3-point era that a team made more threes than their opponent made fg's.

Since returning to Boston Daniel Theis is shooting 100% FG Pct and 100% 3PT Pct in about 18 minutes per game.

If Theis can keep this up I think the Celtics will be in great shape. :D

Must read for all

The Celtics are generating nearly 1.03 points per possession on trips that feature a Smart-led pick-and-roll in 2022 — a mark sandwiched between Devin Booker (1.03) and Darius Garland (1.01 PPP), per Second Spectrum.

What's fun is the inverse; that number rises to 1.23 (!!!) on possessions featuring Smart as a screener. That is the best mark in the NBA among 164 players that have set at least 75 picks this year. He's a rugged dude that can spring The Jays free or help them get mismatches, but he's also a good enough playmaker to make things click as a short-roll threat.

So fun to see this team growing.. it’s rare to have that kind of serious internal improvement instead of by a trade or high pick..

Should have taken shots last night! Gonna have him out there looking like Rob and passing up open shots soon enough. IDC that he was shooting like poo b4 coming HOME, he's a Celts again, he'll easily be at least 36% from deep for the rest of the season!

Borderline miraculous what fit, clear roles and excising bad players or bad fits can do for a roster. This is the stuff Udoka and Stevens have been saying with “we players that compliment the pillars”.

You can argue if the jays are talented enough to be your nr 1 and 2 but Stevens clearly said, well these are the guys I have. Who can I put around them to squeeze every drop from their talent ?

If I were sitting on a couple hundred mil in career earnings and already making $16.5M in guaranteed money plus $20M a year just in stock dividends or whatever other return on investments plus more in endorsements and jersey sales living in a city with fans who adore me and teammates I am friends with and a possible chance at a deep playoff run, and some other team offers me a two-year taxpayer MLE for $13M and Boston offers me a two-year vet min for $5M, I would care a lot more about my legacy and where I want to live and who my teammates are and trying to make a good playoff run as a key contributor and stuff than the extra $8M I earn over two years.

On the other hand, some guys see salary as a measure of respect and might not be willing to take a cut to stay in a good situation, no matter how small. Al doesn't give the impression of being one of those guys, but who really knows.

I was surprised he left last time, though, and surprised at the money he got for his age - Dallas supposedly would've given him the same contract. You never know. Not sure the rules for declining the option and re-signing him - I know they can do it, but could they contract it all in one move without him becoming a free agent? Like announce on June 30th that they've agreed to restructure the deal?

Al identifies as being from the Dominican Republic, a poor country, so he could be charity-greedy.

But I haven't heard of him doing anything on the Mutombo build-a-whole-hospital level.

The five fouls weren't great (how many were against Embiid?) but he had 4 blocks so he was being aggressive..

Brad/Zarren/Feaster are looking like geniuses this afternoon.. got under the tax, managed cap, improved our flexibility, added depth, probably backed the right horse with Nesmith over Romeo, found Hauser, correctly evaluated Theis, and made the right call upgrading our defense instead of downgrading it for more shooting and a higher risk player in Beasley. It cost two 1sts, a few 2nds, Romeo, a future pick swap, and a bunch of trade fodder they'd added for nothing in the summer.

Btw the most catastrophic pick trade in NBA history was probably Memphis trading their pick in 1997 for Otis Thorpe. Ended up the number 2 pick in the Lebron draft for Detroit.. Melo, Bosh, or Wade could've been a Grizzly..

But when they made the deal, Thorpe was *35 years old* and declining, they traded him halfway through the next season, and they were in the lottery for I think the next six years in a row.. Thorpe was 40 when they gave up the pick.. in 2028 White's 33.

It's surely up there. And I thank you for reminding us of the particulars, most of which I'd forgotten. But guys acquired via pick trades include Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kobe Bryant, and (sort of) the Parish/McHale tandem. Also the Jays.

In related news, the Celtics and Lakers have combined for almost half the championships in NBA history.

So apparently team advanced analytics aren’t that far off from the ones available to the public. Nba teams just have much more detailed tracking than what we get.

Just figured I’d pass it along.
