We sure we watched the same trilogy? But Return of the King felt like it was basically made entirely in front of a green screen lol.

I think the series looks promising. You know Amazon has poured a ton of money into it for the production values, and the cast looks pretty decent. I know nothing about the more obscure LOTR lore and stories so it won't feel too forced or unnecessarily drawn out like the rather awful Hobbit movies.

I mean CGI characters, like the orc villains in The Hobbit for instance. All of the orc characters in The Trilogy were costumes and makeup.

Obviously, there is a ton of CGI and miniatures for the massive armies, cities, trolls, etc. Basically, they used CGI for the things they HAD to use it for. Now it feels like directors cut corners for everything with CGI and it looks terrible.

People had the same angry things to say about Peter Jackson and the original trilogy before it aired. Also, everyone still has a horrible taste in their mouth from Game of Thrones.

CGI in Thrones was mostly fantastic, it was writing that ran it into the ground. It's when you start having legit characters with dialogue in CGI, it just cheapens everything.

The bad taste in my mouth is The Hobbit, but apparently they literally just ran out of time figuring out Azog the Defiler and had to do a digital creature in post.

I get a lot of people seem to.like this show but Peacemaker just isn't a good show and is only riding high based on being a comic book show with gratuitous violence but pretty much nothing else...... And by nothing else I mean nothing else. Bad acting. Bad plot. Jokes rarely land. It follows up being a discount GotG with having a triftstore Deadpool for lords sake.

The CGI in the Hobbit movies is awful. That scene where they're floating down the river in the barrels sticks out in my mind as one of the worst examples I can remember in a major budget movie the last 10-15 years.

I thought the first few episodes of Peacemaker were funny and took some risks that I haven't really seen a DC show take, but it's definitely gotten worse as the season went on. I'll watch the finale because I've invested in it, but James Gunn's shtick (we get it dude, you LOVE slow-motion walking montages set to 80's classic rock) is getting kinda old. Outside of the first Guardians movie, I can't think of anything he's made that was remotely memorable.

Oof. I am 2 in and was wondering if I should continue. If it gets worse I'm out.

It's gotten worse, but it started so high that I'm still enjoying it. It's just not This Came Out Today And I Need To Watch It Immediately.

Love almost everything about Peacemaker. Great show, but obviously not for everyone. I think Gunn has done a lot of memorable work, but he does have his tropes - namely his character’s daddy issues.

I distinctly remember being in the theater for the barrel riding scene ready to walk out it was so bad. From the opening frame the movie had lost me with the decision to go with the hi-res camera technique where it felt like a soap opera. You could see makeup marks around the hair line, it was awful.

Peacemaker is life…or some version of it.

Plus that intro. Come on.

For a series that felt rushed, it’s incredible they made the decision to split it into 3 movies. I remember being stunned walking out of the movie theater when the first movie ended. They should’ve retitled it The Hobbit: An Unexpected Ending

The great things about the Hobbit book, are the pacing and tone. It makes adults think they are reading a kids book, it makes kids think they are reading an adult’s book. It has a lot in it but moves briskly. It doesn’t take itself seriously, but it doesn’t feel frivolous.

But the movies get all of this wrong. Half the first movie is a dinner scene. It takes three whole movies to tell the story. It feels like those in charge are intentionally trying to waste/fill time. They had all time classic source material but somehow added characters and scenes. Worst of all they took something from childhood that felt magical to many, and presented it without much fun/joy.

I've been getting a whole lot of Chad in my life by finishing S1 of Reacher, finishing up Peacemaker, and starting Banshee. I need to keep this streak going.

Nope went in blind. Season one finale tonight for me I think.

All four seasons are good (and the first season is the weakest), but season three is an all-timer for me.

I finally watched Dune last night. I read the book last year and wasnt quite finished when it first came out so I waited until the price on the rental dropped. Amazing movie and I was surprised how closely it followed the novel. I am curious, though, for people that didn't read the book were you able to follow along?
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Didn't read the book, didn't watch any of the adaptations, thought it was easy enough to follow along, and I loved it.

OK thanks. I can see why people might not like the story because you literally just saw Act I and a few minutes of Act II. Already looking forward to Part II.

I feel like I could follow along fine but found it to be a pretty boring movie outside of the fantastic visuals and sounds. I’ll probably still watch Part 2 because I dig the genre and it feels like Part 2 could potentially make Part 1 worth it but Part 2 needs to be good to redeem it in my eyes. I don’t really get how this movie ended up being a nominee for Best Picture. I totally get the visual and sound nominations though.
