They need help THIS year and he's out for the season. Still, I do think Father Time has caught up with him--he's 35 in October after all.

Too bad, it's possible Phoenix-Utah would be a matchup and Ingles might have gotten time defending CP3.

He did a good job in that LAC-Utah series a few years ago.

So-so, he had moments putting pressure, but overall Paul killed him the matchup and he destroyed him when Houston played Utah.

Ingles injury is still sad to me though

been wondering why DJ is still a Laker

https://heavy.com/sports/philadelphia-76ers/daryl-morey-buyout-market

Morey wouldn’t give out a name or position, although it certainly sounds like they are pursuing another big man. Andre Drummond’s departure opened up a glaring hole at the backup center spot behind Joel Embiid. The Sixers have been getting by with Charles Bassey and Paul Reed there since the James Harden trade. That rotation won’t be good enough in the postseason. Whatever name it is, Morey confirmed a move on the buyout market was in the works.

“This is pretty much the team. We’re probably going to have one buyout,” Morey told RTRS. “I am actually annoyed we haven’t been able to announce it yet. So, buyout imminent – headline.”

Morey increased speculation that it would be a backup center when he added: “Backup five who Doc trusts for 10 minutes per game in the playoffs.”

Barring some unexpected move that significantly improves the Lakers this offseason, I've convinced myself that Lebron is going to go to Cleveland this offseason in a trade, I think it works out for all 3 parties.

not sure how that would all work, but i will say lakers fans don't appreciate him enough nor do they deserve him. yeah he has his obvious flaws and is getting older but sheesh, so many of them are so entitled and ungrateful in regards to him, it's absurd.

East is very competitive. I don't know that Lebron alone would lift that team above the other contenders.

And Cavs would have to give up some starters or draft assets.

With two years left on his deal, he could leave the Cavs again and they'd get nothing back for all the assets they gave up to get hm.

Does he want another shot at titles or play with his son?

Is he going to force another trade to whichever team drafts his son?

Also his family are supposedly settled in LA now. Doesn't make sense to move back unless he's guaranteed to make the Cavs champions. For that to happen, he'd have to be able to go to them in free agency, without the Cavs having to give up any good players.

But he's not a free agent.

My guess is that he gets traded for Kevin Love, a young player, and a pick (plus whatever else to match salaries.) Love returns to LA which is a nice way to finish his career (he deserves it), his contract ends same time as Lebron so that's a wash. Lebron will stay an extra year or 2 and team with Bronny, he's not going to do that in Phoenix, Toronto, or any totally new city for him.

I think the Cavs get more value back in the trade, whoever they give up will never be as good as Lebron is still right now. And the Lakers get an early start to rebuilding which is a foregone conclusion at this point. If they end up trotting out the same Lebron-AD-Westbrook team next season it will be painful for everyone involved.

Lebron only has a couple of years left tops, I'd say 2 good years plus maybe one farewell tour year. It will really help him if he can play with some young legs around him to maximize his effectiveness and longevity.

10 minutes, 3 boards, 2 assists, a block and a steal vs the Bulls. DJ looked fine in his 76er debut--and he owes Doc bigtime. Doc made journeyman DJ 100 million dollars by convincing him he was an All-star.

DeAndre Jordan will be available for the second time as a Sixer, and it looks likely that he’ll debut. He’s back with Doc Rivers, his coach during the Clippers’ Lob City era, and glad to already have a strong (and candid) relationship with the Sixers’ head coach.

“I love Doc, man,” Jordan said Monday after shootaround. “He’s the best coach I’ve ever had. He’s more than a coach to me, so it’s great to be able to reunite with him and a couple of the other guys on this team. But Doc and I have a relationship that’s great, and I know he’s going to put all of us in position to be successful.

“When a new player comes to a team, it’s always everyone trying to get them acclimated. With Doc, he’s going to curse me out like I’ve been here all season, so it’s great.”

Jordan was rarely used after Christmas with the Lakers, but he’s unconcerned about what he’ll be able to handle physically in a backup center role.

“I’m only 33. In the real world, that’s not very old at all,” he said with a laugh. “I’ve just been in the league for a while. But my body feels good. I was able to ramp up even more during my last couple of weeks in L.A. But I feel great.”

Fascinating interview with the great Bob McAdoo on his time in Buffalo:

https://buffalonews.com/news/local/sean-kirst-nba-great-bob-mcadoo-on-buffalo-a-half-century-after-arrival-i-loved/article_68b0e712-b760-11ec-9bfc-dfbe7e513510.html

It's wild that the Braves had McAdoo, Moses Malone, Adrian Dantley, and Randy Smith all on the same team and couldn't keep them together. Just goes to show that this franchise's old history of ineptitude and dysfunction actually predated Sterling.

Problems with small markets vs. large markets was greater back then, before the salary cap.

That's how Kareem and Chamberlain ended up on the Lakers. Teams outside of NY and LA, maybe Boston, simply couldn't generate the revenues to pay stars.

It wasn't simply that these teams were too dumb to let talented players go.

Wow, Booker down for games 3-4. Pelicans finds luck on his lap again after Pg13 last day covid lottery. Also Middleton with sprained MCL might just put Bulls to the driver seat on that series. Both finalists are boiling in first round.

And Jokic' Denver is already blown out. Might be a Malone firing on the horizon?

And lastly but not final, Doc motha.... Rivers. He might finally got 4-0 sweep for the first time in his tenure. Philly looks most ready team to go.

One thing common for this playoffs. Heat&Celtics&Warriors are teams that most scary ones because they have the most continuity. Year 3 of Kawhi&PG(this year won't count) would hopefully be enough.
2024-25 Clippers W/L Count against OKC, HOU, PHX, MIN (0-14)
2024-25 Clippers W/L Count against rest of NBA (43-18)

nets and their anti-vaxxer superstar busted out in the first round by way of sweep. dude's a total joke. i imagine durant will wanna get way from that debacle sooner, rather than later.

can't imagine steve nash isn't canned, which is unfortunate because he's my favorite player of all time. but he also doesn't deserve to be in a situation like that and seemed to be in over his head. wouldn't mind him coming here as an understudy with lue, and maybe the team could pick up a few things from his days as an offensive genius.

meanwhile, 76ers were up 3-0, and now the series is at 3-2. i mean it's not even a joke at this point, it's a meme. anyone at all surprised?

Durant owns a lot of the blame for this debacle himself.

On the micro level: his performance in this series was one of the biggest meltdowns ever witnessed from a star player. Even Kyrie at least showed up for Game 1 when the series was still in doubt. Durant didn't show up to the series until it was already over and he could statpad his 39 points with the pressure off. Before tonight, he was invisible all series except for when he was turning it over.

On the macro level: Durant left Golden State not because he had suddenly developed some competitive pride and desire to earn success, but because Draymond was mean to him once and he was salty that the fans liked Steph better. He turned down the chance to play with Kawhi and instead chose a known lunatic and worse player in Kyrie who had just quit on his last two teams and left them in disarray. Then bringing in Harden was an attempt by him to break the league all over again, but this time without Curry and the fanbase who correctly recognized that Curry was the better player, so his ego could remain intact. But again, he brought in another guy known for quitting on his teams and then was shocked that Harden quit again. His entire time with the Nets has been narcissism, arrogance, and foolishness combined, and he deserves every bit of the failure.
