Re: College/Draft thread. Knicks Currently have Picks 12 and 45
So watching the all star rising star game I really feel confident in saying Dyson Daniels is not a PG, he’s a SG with above average vision and passing. I see flashes of Manu Ginobli to his game. I hate to use this comp because he isn’t as dynamic a scorer as Manu or have as much wiggle to his game. However, that is the “type” of SG he could be. He isn’t exactly a Burks type either because Burks mindset is “score” whereas watching Daniels “distribute” is his default and he has the vision and passing to do it. However watching him play next to Cade showed he can be really useful in that role and is exactly what I bet they wish Hayes was. If they were drafting late lottery like we are going to, I legit think they would take Dyson.
Now could Dyson work on the Knicks? Yes if the plan is to put him next to IQ to form a really interesting back court. The two of them have enough vision between them to “equal” the PG production this teams needs. However, neither is a great PnR guy, but beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve said this before but this team is being built for a motion offense and the FO makes moves that fits that theory. A IQ/Dyson back court fits that system since both can drive if open, are good in transition, rebound, and have floaters. I also think a Dyson/Rose back court works for the same reason with Dyson providing the secondary and potentially primary distribution next to Derrick Rose’s scoring.
Now let’s say we switch Dyson’s backcourt partner to Grimes…. That fit doesn’t work nearly as well. Grimes isn’t providing enough offense to let let Dyson focus on distributing. Long story short, Dyson and Grimes would be the teams SG if Dyson was drafted, with IQ possibly being slotted to PG.

watching Jabari Smith rn. he's so good
winning the lottery and getting him wouldd be amazing......would also mean the end of Randle

On another note the Thunder and Spurs have three first round picks this year. I legit wonder if the Knicks could come away with something good for a trade based around that Mavs pick.

Re: College/Draft thread. Knicks Currently have Picks 12 and 45
the goal should be getting the highest possible pick, so that it's easier to move up if we don't get into the top 4
Shaedon Sharpe should be another. he's #5 or #6 on most boards, but he's a top 3 talent if he'd been playing this season. I put him in the same tier as Jabari, Ivey, Holmgren, Banchero at the top of this class.
Sharpe was the #1 recruit for 2023, so if we were able to get him at 5 or 6, that could be a huge steal

Yeah I think that's definitely the more likely outcome for him, and kinda why I'm really comfortable taking a gamble on seeing if he can develop into an actual PG longterm. Unless his shot never gets to average percentages on catch & shoot 3s, its hard for me to imagine him not at least being a positive rotation player that helps with our need for playmaking.

What is Juwan doing? The other guy initiated it but him throwing a punch is what will be focused on.
Exhibit A
Here’s the other guy initiating it
Expecting some pretty big suspensions.

Johnny Davis looks legit. And Kennedy Chandler looked pretty good yesterday as well, albeit undersized. Doesn't seem like this draft is as crappy as people made it out to be tbh

I like that Davis kid. Has the steely calm we need to overcome poor roster construction & coaching

Chandler has a lot of talent. if he were a couple inches taller, he'd no doubt be a lottery pick. surprised his FT% is as low as it is b/c his jumper looks good
this draft is a lot better than it was made out to be. the talent tho it does however tail off considerably outside the lotto, but that's ok since we'll be in the top 10

I think it’s a 20 or so man draft and yeah we are likely drafting around 10. Next year’s draft could potentially be as deep as last year depending on how you value “potential”.

I hope he gets fired, and the Wisconsin coach didn't initiate anything. He stopped him to try to talk to him, just like what any other coach does in a line at the end of a game.

kid is gonna be a star
I'm a bit concerned about his shooting (low release, push shot), but even without a knockdown jumper, he'll be great. reminds me of a mix between Ja/Donovan

He did grab him, it looks like Juwan was trying to just ignore him and he either grabbed him to try to talk to him or call him out for ignoring him. I think at least a 1 game suspension isn’t a bad call based on the grab. I can’t think of any setting where grabbing someone who doesn’t want to talk to you is acceptable as professional or personal conduct.
I don’t know if they will fire Juwan. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do, but he does need a legit suspension for a few games. He’s supposed to lead those young men by example, and outside of something that was outrageous there aren’t a lot of excuses for that behavior. Also, since we don’t know what that assistant said to make Juwan so angry so I don’t want to call for Juwan’s head out of turn. The assistant might of said something that justifiably triggered Juwan
Suspensions definitely need to come down I think for both sides with Juwan getting the majority of it. Both coaches set really bad example today for their players.

That’s kind of what I thought. Clearly Juwan was trying to walk away. Michigan was pressing for no reason so Wisconsin called a timeout for no reason. Then the guy couldn’t just keep it moving, he had to stop Juwan.
Not an excuse for Juwan to throw that punch. What if one of his kids got hurt?
