I think it's because Stockton is anti-vax and would be in a Kyrie type situation. Not that I really want this thread to go off on a vax tangent but that had to be what Chuck was talking about.

Ah that makes sense. lool Chucks got jokes for days.

Yeah, really poor comment from Barkley, I expected better. Regardless of one thinks about the vaccine, this was out of the field.

Also, just wanted to note how Shams seemed to be out of it... always on his phone, barely talking, etc.

According looks great but everyone pointing out they only have 1 big is important, I might have gone with them before being made aware of that. The greatest Center but you're going to need more than one big going against these guys.

Same thing with Sue, KG and Anthony only want to play PF and that doesn't become less of a demand facing the giants of the past. Although part of me thinks with KG and Bird on the same team they'd get other teams to quit mid game. 2 of the biggest and most successful trash talkers in history on the same team is just mean.

According to sources has Willis Reed and Chris Bosh coming off the bench.

I just think that a lineup of Magic, Ray Allen, MJ, Kawhi, and Russell would be amazing. MJ/Kawhi/Russell would get so many steals/blocks that would lead to fast breaks led by Magic, and in the half court they’d have Ray Allen and Kawhi to space the floor, Magic and MJ to penetrate/create, and MJ and Kawhi could get their own shot at any moment.

And they have Dame as their 6th man.

Outside of that, MJ, Magic, and Russell are 3 of the best 7 player of all time. No other team has that.

EDIT: for people voting for Sue Bird, how would their starting lineup work? Do they play Lebron at shooting guard?

Nash
Lebron
Bird
Anthony Davis
KG

Certainly a great team, but kinda seems like they have 4 power forwards in their starting lineup. They do have great passing, but it seems like they could have an awkward fit at times.

It would be
Magic/Dame
MJ/Allen
Leonard/Barry
Bosh/Arizin
Russell/Reed
Yes, that is the best team

Jerry West handicapped himself by trying to pick only former Lakers, otherwise this isn't even a fair fight.

I think in today’s NBA they’d start Leonard at power forward, move MJ to small forward, and start either Ray Allen or Dame at shooting guard.

Bosh can't do anything defensively in the post against the other's bigs.

Nor can Reed

They only have one big in Russell who can handle that. Against the NBA rosters of today that's perfectly fine and they'd stomp, but not when they've going against the talents of the other teams when dominate low post scoring is available in spades at both C and PF.

It's a clear weakness imo.

In the words of Big E the other teams have a lot of Big Meaty men who can Slap Meat.

It was by far the best comment of the night.

This is a joke competition and it's about entertainment and like Jerry West said Stockton at this point is known more for his anti vax stances than his game.

Which is Stockton's goal, he's pretty much operated scorch earth policies with his associations on the vaccines are killing millions and no one is really dying from covid under the age of 90.

Basically John Stockton is a true believer of what Irving is pretending to believes just for attention

"During the interview, Stockton asserted that more than 100 professional athletes have died of vaccination. He also said tens of thousands of people – perhaps millions – have died from vaccines."

It's pretty wild and something he's worked hard to use his stature as a known figure to make sure it's the first thing they think of when they think of him.

I don't think so, Johnny.

It happened at the beginning of the draft, around the 20 minute mark in the video if you want to check.

Plus, he (Shams) was just messing around with his phone and left Haynes alone to do the pick, barely interacting (in that pick).

Sue Bird had to research at the end of her draft, then decided to go for DeBusschere (which she didn't know nothing about, I must say).

Well, I didn't even know what Stockton thought about vaccines until now. Being honest, I couldn't care less.

I just believe that was not the proper place to get that kind of comment across.

And I'm not a fan of labeling and shaming others due to their views on whatever it may be, too.

That being said, I think it's better if we both leave it as be, this is not the thread for this kind of conversation.

Willis Reed beat Wilt in the Finals twice, beat Kareem in a playoff series, and made an all-NBA defensive 1st team.

I also think you’re underrating the help defense of MJ and Kawhi. When the 96 Bulls swept the Magic it wasn’t because Luc Longley shut down Shaq. It was because Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman made it so the Magic averaged 16 turnovers per game.

The Magic had 64 assists and 63 turnovers in the series.

We’ve also seen Kawhi play great defense against Giannis and Lebron. He could be a defensive specialist on the team because he wouldn’t be the 1st option or even the 2nd option.

If it was me, that wildcard pick would have been used on someone like Ben Wallace or Mutombo, giving me continued dominance on the glass and paint protection once Russell sits.

I really don’t see the need for Bosh when I have so many other guys I can rely on for scoring BUT if I was going in that direction I’d have gone with Chris Webber or Rasheed Wallace.

If I wanted great defense with some more versatility to create opportunities for others then I’d go with Draymond.

There are so many other options they could have gone with Gasol, Kemp, Stoudamire, Brand, Cummings, Mourning or even Howard

All of those are really great calls. That just seemed like a pick for fun sakes and wanting to give him a shout out for someone they're probably happy helped their careers when all they had to report on were the Heat every night for a few years.

Really fun show.. was kinda cringey at times with Quavo and others not knowing about players, at all.

Love the back and forth and the digs and daps from some of the group.

Quavo shouldn't of been on there, and rather had either a recently retired player or an inactive/non-all-star (role player or not), thats the kind of element they were missing.

According To Sources, I thought had the best team next to Hughley's and West's. Then NBA on TNT's.
