Zach's mental health following the visit will be the biggest issue. It seems like he was given peace of mind most importantly.

Huh, wonder what the fluid buildup is about. Wonder if he has inflamed the bursa structures. Anyways, seems like it was mostly about playing with some piece of mind. Never great to have knee soreness but it's just something he's going to have to manage probably for the rest of his career and at least now he knows it's nothing too bad.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Don't think this is big deal. I remember Jordan having fluid buildup removed from his knee(s) all the time after he came back from his 1st retirement.
He said, that felt so good and I remember, his having great games right after that.

Did the knee issue come before the back spasms? i feel like one led to the other and now with the knee drained i can see Zach looking alot better on the court.

Each case is different. But at minimum I would expect him to get his knee cleaned out after the season, which is a considerable item when we are talking about a super max deal.

Seems like there’s too much fretting about super max. Fully healthy all year, it was still highly questionable if he’d make it. Now he has missed time, sounds like he might be minutes restricted for a brief time, but mainly - he has taken a backseat to DeMar.
He’d basically have to go nuclear the rest of the way, and Bulls win the conference regular season to make an all nba.

@rob_schaef: LaVine said he had knee drained, received PRP and cortisone injections. Called it "manageable"
"It'll (the treatment) get me through the end of the season, and then in the offseason I'll be able to take care of it and get myself to 100 percent"
I don't like the sound of this.
Sure, it could be worse, but it doesn't seem like he'll be 100% for the rest of the season.
Also, is it just me or it sounds like he could end up having surgery in the offseason?
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Everything we have heard is that there is no structural issues. I don't think there is anything to operate on.
Sounds like he is going to have to manage this until he can give it a long rest period as its inflammation related.
Let's not forget he went right to the olympics after last year. He hasn't had an extended break since the covid shutdown in 2020.

I hope so. But knowing the past of the Bulls medical staff and how secretive everyone on the organization usually is with medical information, would you be surprised if they announced in the offseason that Zach would need to surgically repair a small tear on his Meniscus? Because I sure wouldn't.

I hope whatever he has to do in the offseason doesn’t end with him missing the whole season next year, right after he gets the bag.

With our depth, might be best to rest him strategically the last 25 games. This is especially possible when Ball and/or Caruso get back.

Fair enough. I'm pretty sure the whole medical and training staff got cleaned out by AKME but I'm not 100% sure.

He went to the specialist for a reason. I don’t think he would take that chance on his contract year as the Bulls would not take such a risk in playing him with an injury like that. GarPax are gone. The reason we haven’t been a given an exact diagnosis is most likely because it really isn’t serious and LaVine doesn’t want it disclosed for whatever reason.

I don’t think he would be tweeting happy gifs and saying things went great if was he was told he has a serious injury.

Right now we have no depth! But yes once Caruso is back and then hopefully Ball soon thereafter I could see him being limited to around 32 minutes a game and no back-to-back games. So he is good for the playoffs. In the initial interview after the doctor visit he said they were going to discuss minute management.
Ball and White starting with Caruso and Ayo off the bench is still a REALLY good backcourt when/if he sits so that helps.

Well he wouldn't miss a full season if it's a minor knee scope... it's probably in everyone's best interests to take the minor surgery if he gets the full max, rests/heals properly, as opposed to risking he plays on a hurting knee.
But I agree, it's not revisiting the best feelings as a Bulls fan knowing our star is getting a fresh max contract... and knee surgery.

Athletes gets get their knees scoped all the time. As long as it’s not an ACL, MCL, meniscus tear or any type of cartilage damage it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Re: Zach likely out until after All-Star break--KC
I believe that there's no structural damage like the medical diagnosis claimed. As fish said, Zach put a lot of extra mileage this season, especially with the Olympics. And we all know he works hard in practice to improve his game. If possible, I would still try to put light Load Management protocol on him to make sure he's fresher come playoff time. Maybe no back-to-backs for Zach. I think Coby has shown he can pick up some of the scoring load from Zach while he's under light Load Management. And in the offseason, Zach should focus on resting and healing.
I really2 want to see this team at least 98% healthy come playoff time.
