The Knicks drafted some middling talented Euro guy like whose ceiling is probably Shved or Beno Udrih or Sasha Vujačić

I mean, not bad for 33 or 36 or wherever he was drafted.

He can compete with IQ and McBride for those end of bench garbage time minutes if the Knicks ever get guards with real talent.

How do you even know that? I'm encouraged by it. Spurs been doing it for yrs. I thought he looked good in SL. Definitely better than the other euro we picked up. Already forgot his name

I'm just trying to embrace the negativity. :D

I hope he's good. I think it'll come down to having enough athleticism to turn the corner on NBA players plus however that impacts defense. He has skills.

exuding and embracing. :D

Rokas was a key character in Barcelona winning Copa del Rey final against arch enemy, Real Madrid. Madrid had the lead most the game, Rokas scored his first points in the third quarter, a catch and shoot corner 3 that was part of Barca's comeback. 4th quarter, Rokas hits his second 3 from the exact same corner and takes the lead for Barcelona. In final 3 minutes of the game in anybodies game, Rokas drives to the left after a pick, hits a floater and one, hits the ft, another offensive possession, dejavu, drives to the left layup and one. In defensive 59-64 game, Rokas finishes with 12 points (2/3 three pointers, 2/2 two pointers and ones, 2/2 FT).

Rokas is becoming master of end one finishes at the Euro level.

Rokas had already spent a couple seasons under Saras on the Zalgiris team when Saras departed to coach Barcelona. Then, Zalgiris signed the G-League coach of the year Martin Schiller who was very chill compared to Jasikevicius. After spedning a season with Schiller, Rokas chose to go to Barca anyway knowing full well that he will have to deal with Saras and will also have to compete for every minute on the court with Calathes and Lapprovitola (as opposed to staying in Zalgiris and being the main guy).

This alone tells you everything you need to know about the guy. I don't think I remember a more coachable Lithuanian player.

Not sure who said it, I think it was Hezonja, that Obradovic and Jasikevicius would last 2 practices in the NBA before getting fired. NBA is a players league and you cant coach your players like this in the NBA. European basketball is getting better, and we are getting players who can sometimes carry teams by themselves, but European leagues are still coaches' leagues, not players leagues.

I'm reading his lips and I can see that at least 80% of what he said to Rokas are Russian swear words.

Roku gained some muscle. Would be interested in seeing how much he’s improved this summer.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him stay in Europe one more year, especially if Tom Thibodeau is going to still be coaching next year.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Thank you - this is so reassuring to hear, because he looks like he may be the best option we have for a PG next year. I know we may try to acquire Brunson as FA or sign and trade, but the competition Barca has faced is very high level and Rokas' skills are exactly what we need. I don't want any more 3&D guards playing point guard, I don't want guys so far past their prime they can't stay on the floor long enough, and I don't want any more idiots like Elf, either. If the FO doesn't give him a real chance, then our fortunes are even worse than we think.

Sarunas is an international basketball legend. He can be as mad as he wants.

Return to New York Knicks
