Derozan was 100% the right move to make, and i'm not even talking about Chicago Bulls Derozan, i'm talking about the Spurs Derozan.
Derozan as a #3 would have been awesome for the Lakers and a ton better than Westbrook.
Lebron will probably make a better owner than Michael Jordan, but not by much.

LeBron builds teams but the necessity for more all the time also destroys teams futures.
but the picks they do have are very valuable because history shows that once lebron leaves a team that team is going to suck for awhile.
Does it? It allows teams to bottom out quick and their rebuilding depends on them. Cleveland the first time got like 4 top 5 picks in 3 years. If they drafted better, they wouldve been amazing. Miami retooled quickly and the 2nd time Lebron left, Cleveland knocked it out of the park with their top picks. But neither Cleveland or Miami traded picks 5 years out because neither traded for a player of AD's caliber (when healthy). Thats the Lakers problem
By way of introduction to mademan, my real name is Kenny:

The Cavaliers are 35-23 and way better than the Lakers...
doclinkin and I think FRONT RUNNING is what some players and peeps do.
Me? I want Russell Westbrook to get the last laugh. He's not as good as Lebron but RW has made the most of his gifts and continues to play hard
Westbrook deserves better.

I think you're right...they PROBABLY shouldn't.
But then again, there's money involved. King James in one season with core pieces remaining is another championship or at the very least $$$

The Russ trade doomed the Lakers and LeBron has to take responsibility for that.

As Wizards fans who remember Lebron and crab dribbles and crying to Danny Crawford, "They're trying to hurt me"....
The Russ trade meant Tommy Sheppard for president cuz Ernie Grunfeld NEVER woulda coulda done that.

Im okay with trading him. If he stays here until he retires, we will get nothing for him. Might as well get something.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

Exactly. Windhorst just cares about Lebron's success.

For the record I think Lebron is the GOAT
He's still playing at an extremely high level. He's Karl Malone morphed with MJ/Oscar/Magic....
I do think GeorgeSears is correct.
Lebron showed Cleveland by taking his talents to South Beach and he really showed out ON HIS TERMS coming BACK TO CLEVELAND and winning a chip

Sam Presti got a war chest of assets (picks, young players) for the Lakers to help them rebuild or retool

I'm 61. Old enough to be Lebron's daddy (hold the damn jokes!!!)
Why can't Lebron take a sabbatical until Bronny comes up in the ranks?

I strongly believe the pandemic salvaged that AD experiment, if not for the bubble they would have gotten nothing imo
They'd be a 60 win team that year anyways

This is one of the main reasons LeBron will never be on the same pedestal as Jordan. It's as simple as that.
U make him sound like a terrorist

Maybe because most people (me included) would trade Lebron and salvage some value before make a trade he would like.

Agreed, but the Lakers should consider trading LBJ this summer. They need to really think about whether they want to trade the picks that would be required to turn Westbrook into even an aging superstar like Beal or Dame. That's probably their 2027 and 2029 firsts and one or two swaps (this assumes they don't get outbid). Jeannie Buss is clearly not willing to go deep into the tax to put the best team around AD and LBJ that would be possible. So the Lakers would be left with no picks and no cap space for the foreseeable future to round out the roster, an injury plagued AD, an older LBJ, and Dame or Beal? That's best case scenario.
If I just put my mercenary hat on, and that's how the Laker's F.O. needs to start thinking, I wouldn't trade him to Cleveland. The Cavs have too much leverage given the fact that he's a F.A. in 2023 and they'll be looking it as though if they wait a year, they can have him without surrendering anything. A team like the Bulls or Sixers, who have windows that won't stay open forever might overpay for a one-year rental with the hope that they can win a ring with him and talk him into reupping for another season. Maxi, Thybulle, Ayo, and P. Williams are all nice young prospects. DeRozan or Harris make enough to be the primary salary filler. Maybe even get a pick on top, and there you are.
I don't know what type of representations the Lakers F.O. made to get LBJ there. Perhaps they feel as though they fulfilled them when they traded for AD. But if LBJ is carrying around a sense of betrayal, real or imagined, that's when him leaving isn't the worst thing in the world and getting out in front of that so you can get something in return is just smart business.
