Eh.... Don't get your hopes up. Bob Windhram, aka Net Income, reported it will most likely be Johnson.
Woj just reported it Jevon Carter is gone.

Sometimes I kinda miss the old NJ.com messageboard days when NI (Bob) would get contradicted, then angrily start spewing out "dunce... dunce... dunce!"

I wonder if Woj's ears are burning?

Dragic might end up starting more games than Kyrie at this point wdym?

I understand that however I think the Sixers and Bucks have a better team than the Nets.

Why do you keep mentioning the Sixers? They don't really have a need for Dragic and wouldn't have been able to offer him the role he was seeking. Never even saw any rumors implying that they may have been interested in each other.

The Bucks are better, but if Dragic wanted to have a chance at having a greater role, then Brooklyn was really the only place for him to go. With the Bucks he's limited to a bench role, whereas the Nets could offer him a part-time starting role.

I'm surprised Carter is gone. I thought Carter's expiring contract could have been much needed filler in the off-season. Props to Tsai for committing to the longer term tax hit.

Does he have anything left in the tank?

Here's to hoping he's got something left to give. Still can't count on Kyrie for anything yet, so this seems like a great signing.

Guard rotation now of Mills/Curry/Brown, and now Dragic/Thomas off the bench? And I'm hoping behind the scenes that things are progressing well with Simmons. We'll probably have him starting once Durant is full back.

On paper we look pretty damn solid if we can get Kyrie to full time:

Kyrie/Seth/KD/Simmons/AD
Dragic/Mills/Brown/Blake/LMA
Cam/Kessler/Johnson/Sharpe/Clax

and still holding out hopes that Joe can give it a go.

That’s about the best move Nash has made whole season

Always liked Dragić ( question is how much he got left in the tank ) but worse case scenario he not worse than Jevon Carter

Nobody really knows , he could be marginal upgrade or huge upside dependent on what he got left

Another player in ramp up mode along with Simmons i guess

On paper we’re championship caliber , i think this team really needs about 2-3 weeks together and healthy, then we got really excited or disappointed, by then Kai and Joe situations will be clear as well

With this signing I think its pretty clear the Nets don't want to us Simmons as a PG.

Probably will put him as a 3/4 in the Draymond Green role. Might be best for him anyway.

Good signing. Dragic can create his own shot, something we currently lack if Kyrie is still part time. KD is better playing not as the primary ball handler.

In effect we traded
Harden
Millsap
Bembry
Jevon

For

Simmons
Seth
Drummond
Dragic

That's a pretty sweet deal. Got rid of our 2 worst players, a redundant piece and a malcontent due for a cap killing extension for 4 solid guys that's going to be in our playoff rotation. This team needed a shakeup and Marks did it, I'm not expecting miracles this season but I feel we have something to build on.

There is another connection to the Nets other than Nash and Amare , Dragić received Petrović Nets jersey in 2014 from Petrović moms which made him very emotional , if he can somehow help this team win a title talk about perfect movie script to honor Petrović

had a feeling a carter waiving was incoming one way or another.

Dragic is a nice add and should play a role along the lines of Patty/Seth. Won't shoot as well as them but can do more running the offense and has always seemed to handle big moments.

not a guarantee, but this roster is getting closer to being kyrie-proofed. which is necessary bc even if the vax stuff gets resolved he's still a walking injury risk.

Never mind the injury risk, what other excuses will he find to not play the game? Kyrie isn’t dependable

He was decent last with the Heat, didn't want to be in Toronto. He's had lots of time to rest, he should be fully healthy at least.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
