This is what the crux of the conversation comes down to. Nothing formal or in writing was agreed to. What Putin is trying to do is confirm revisionist history like there was an agreement in place, but because the U.S. went back on the agreement he’s justified in invading a sovereign country which is just all kinds of crazy pants.

Those topics were discussed but I didn’t find the scope or urgency in any of the supporting links. Using unofficial talks of officials 30 years ago to justify actions now, doesn’t make sense if you’re an honest broker. Hell an official agreement such as the Iran deal was torn up by Trump and I’m not sure anyone all of a sudden wants to see a nuclear powered Iran.

Those aren't talking points, those are facts.

The USA and its NATO partners are culpable.

I’m still trying figure out how the US and NATO is culpable for Russia invading a sovereign country despite whatever expansionist concerns Russia has. If Putin was a truly honest broker (he’s definitely not) and concerned with expansion, then there are diplomatic ways to address those concerns. Ironically what invading Ukraine does is push Ukraine to seek NATO membership, which is what NATO doesn’t want, but I’m sure that’s all part of the plan. Gaslighting that non binding discussion from 30 years is justification for invading a country doesn’t make sense.

I encourage everyone to watch this video that gives a perspective from someone on the ground in Ukraine. The Majority Report is not some establishment or pro Democrat YouTube channel. This is just a sliver of the situation in Ukraine, but even if you don’t trust the mainstream media, it’s pretty obvious this is mostly a result of Putin’s megalomaniac ambitions.

Yeah there are lots of valid *explanations* for what Putin is doing but they don't *excuse* it. At the end of the day Putin is the one making the SECOND aggressive move violating Ukraine's national sovereignty against the agreements that his country signed. There's no excuse for it, only weak explanations.

Anyway the real explanation is he wants to humiliate NATO and the US and show off how he is in complete charge of the non-EU members in Eastern Europe. Most importantly he gets to determine where oil and gas pipelines get built.

If there’s ever a reason that Americans should get on their knees and thank God everyday that Biden won, this is an example. Imagine a complete moron like Trump or **** like Desantis trying to deal with this. Desantis would blame it on Democrats somehow instead of addressing Russia.

It's impossible to overstate the overwhelming stupidity of Trump - and to try to understand why any thinking human being could begin to support him. We are so f'n dumb as a country, and we're never going to be ok as a country with people still supporting him. Tbh, if you can say his name without cursing, there's something wrong with you. People say - well, we survived those 4 years. No, we really didn't.

Interesting nevertheless.

We have similar problems in our country with hate groups in our military and law enforcement.

Let's face it; loyalty to the United States gets you nowhere in the Republican party. They made the prime example with Liz Cheney, and Tulsi took notes. Appeal to the dumb as f.

Also conveniently ignores Republicans overwhelmingly supporting NATO membership for Ukraine in 2014.

The GOP and its lackeys are just shameful.

This X1000

regarding our country and stupidity, see dyingofwhiteness.com

and think about how municipalities, not just in the south but elsewhere as well, who used to brag about
their wonderful public (but segregated) swimming pools ordered them to be filled with concrete
before the White power structure would permit them to be integrated. That's
aggressive stupidity right there.

Underestimating Russia and its resolve to protect its interests squarely falls onto the shoulders of the USA and its NATO partners.

How would the US react if the tables were turned with Russian allies establishing foothold in South America?

Forcing eastward NATO expansion was a blunder of epic proportions.

But the Russian “resolve to protect their interests” is blameless?
