Well in fairness he hasn't had a big man besides a guy like Plumlee and he played well. Stewart is more of a energy small big.

Yes, Plumlee played well because he knows how to play the game. He's not an offensive focal point. Sets aren't run for him.
But a guy like Ayton would be lost on Casey. He doesn't believe in the low post. Doesn't bother with pick-n-roll sets....

How do you know that he wouldn't use Ayton that way when we've yet to have a player like that is what I'm getting at.

Not that I give a crap about Casey or expect him here long term just wondering why you're so certain he would just not understand one of the simplest and oldest plays in basketball like a pick and roll.

I see no point in spending our cap space on 1 dude who at best is a high calibre role player (20 mil) and another who apparently has attitude issues (25 mil)

I'd rather attempt to Max Ayton or go grab Jalen Smith or Mitch Robinson

Ayton should be in the same sentence as brunson and sexton.

Is a glorified pnr big man with decent defense worth 30mil a year to us? Hell no.

Can you elaborate on the to us part? Is any player type worth $30 mil to us currently?
I said currently cause we have no true franchise player at the moment. We gave no foundation or team that needs that "final piece" to contend for a championship. Ayton strikes me as one one of those players you sign in that scenario but overall isn't worth the money, if you get what I'm saying. He's kinda in that situation in Phoenix right now.

So imo he isn't that good and isn't worth the money for us

Hell no.

Then we shouldn’t sign or not sign guys based on whether they fit Casey’s system.

No, of course not. I'm not sure that's what Weaver's doing, though.

He's been a coach forever and has a history of/reputation for not utilizing big men.

Look at the little jump in Valanciunas' numbers once he got away from Casey.

So what big man on our team is underutilized in the pnr?

That's nearly 20M on the books for absolutely no reason

They will likely be 3rd stringers or CoJo will be our backup SG, which is sad.

Imagine missing out on DeAndre Ayton so Kelly O and CoJo can see solid minutes on our team
