Highest paid player that will not end up in the Hall of Fame
Which player has been consistently signed to lucrative contracts but never racked up actual accolades required for a hall of fame career?
My pick starts with Jrue Holiday. At the end of his current contract he will have almost $300 million in career earnings. Not bad for a 1x All Star that plays great defense, but the lack of accolades will prevent Holiday from getting serious HoF consideration. I’m highly anticipating that one person that shows up making a case for Jrue Holiday to be in the hall of fame.

Cj McCollum. Actually who’s that dude on philly? Scores like 18 puts a game, but will never make an all star team?

Re: Highest paid player that will not end up in the Hall of Fame
My 1st thought was Tobias Harris, because he's had a 60 million and a 180 mill million deal. But it will probably be Jrue Holiday. He's probably going to make at least 100 million more than Tobias when it's all said and done.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Joe Johnson has made >$215M but could be a longshot for the Hall.
Rasheed made ~$150M, but he would have been making more in today's game, so your OP question is a little disingenuous due to inflation and contract size. Players from today and into the future will make a lot more and still not have careers that best Rasheed or many of their other predecessors.
John Wall has made over $228M, how's his HoF career looking ?

Tobias is a good candidate. I think it's fair to start doubting Brad Beal will be a HoF player, and he'll probably get another big contract (unlike Tobias).

Oh I think Holiday has a legit chance to make it. When a core wins more than one chip, they typically get 3 guys in.
On the other hand, Tobias Harris…

Gordon Hayward has made a pretty penny in his career. Sad to think about what might have been without that horrific injury.

Wall will be at $280M at the end of his contract next season.
He also doesn't have a National Team career to bolster his case. Not much from College either.

Where should we start tbh.
If the amount of money is the crucial point it has to be John Wall imo.

A little off topic, but I just realized that Luol Deng and Timo Mozgov are still getting paid this season. They have been out for what feels like 5 years.

Joe Johnson did lead Atlanta to the playoffs every season he played for them. 7x all-star and he made one all NBA team but he's probably not hall of fame worthy.Clav wrote:https://www.spotrac.com/nba/rankings/earnings/2021/all-time/

No chance John Wall makes it unless he achieves something quick.

Re: Highest paid player that will not end up in the Hall of Fame
If Blake isn't a HOFer, he's currently made the most $$$ of anyone not going to the hall (10th all time in salary). John Wall will pull ahead of him after next season's salary. Mike Conley is also right next to Wall currently and Gordon Hayward also in the $200+ million career contract. If he stays healthy moving forward and is mostly a shooter he could play late into his career.

It pains me to say it, but I thought of Mike Conley as a darkhorse candidate right away. When the Grizz gave him that extension, he was the highest paid player in NBA history for a season IIRC (or maybe it was just a few months until Lebron signed a new contract, I can't remember)

Re: Highest paid player that will not end up in the Hall of Fame
Some of the guys named at least have been all-stars. Chandler Parsons is the first person that comes to mind in terms of players who made a ton of money to do nothing, and never deserved the payday they got even before the injuries
