Well Wishes from a Nets fan

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:51 pm

Hello everyone, Nets fan here.

I'll be brief, I hope that James works well for you guys. Here are my offerings based on 13 months of #13:

-- I don't blame him for souring on Brooklyn. We're toxy AF right now, and there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency to fix the culture. Harden also seems hungry for a ring, while KD and KI already have theirs. He didn't have time to wait for them to want it at much as he does. I believe that this difference contributed to the rift.

-- Harden is really really good, y'all. He can lift a team of scrubs into contention, and he's never played with a bigman as dominant as Joel. It could be dynamite. However...

-- his J is off. I believe he injured his right hand in training camp, and suffered a setback with it while weightlifting last month. James is a gamer, so he'll play through it, but the touch on his 3 and his floater have been wonky all season. I believe that Brooklyn's training staff is not good, so hopefully James will get back to 100% health soon. And I for one believe that his game will age gracefully once he's healthy, since he doesn't rely on run/jump athleticism to achieve elite efficiency.

-- his defense is embarrassing at times. You'll see big steal and block numbers, but they indicate more gambling than actual D. With guys like Matias and Embiid around to clean up his messes, it may not be as much of a problem, but it hurt Brooklyn's morale to see such poor effort on that end from their leader.

-- I would be on high alert for Portland to poach him this offseason. He and Morey claim that him not opting into his 22-23 season when the deal finished was a paperwork snafu, but I don't believe him here. James has little "tells" that indicate deception, just like I knew when the smoke around his last 2 trade requests was real. Back to the Blazers, it is clear that Dame wants a running mate. They cleared max capspace with their deadline deals, and he makes the most sense among the max UFAs for them to pursue. Harden wants to be courted this summer, I think he wants his The Decision moment.

All that said, I think it was a shrewd move by Morey, and Marks was unable to extract great value return. Ultimately, it was a prudent trade for both teams. It should be fun to see it all unfold, cheers!

If Harden is really looking to win a ring, then he won't find a better option this summer than he has here, and certainly not in Portland, which is a dumpster fire with a quickly declining star in Lillard. I suppose we're going to find out what James' priorities really are. If all goes well the rest of this season, I can't imagine him wanting to leave.

I know people say this will make the Nets/Sixers rivalry the biggest in Philly, but sorry not for me. I have no emotional feelings about the Nets aside from Ben Simmons who I'm obviously going to be rooting against. But Sixers/Nets won't even be the biggest rival for me in the NBA let alone all of sports. I'll always hate the Celtics more than the Nets.

Nets/Sixers will be a huge rivalry among the players which will be incredible to watch. But I agree, as a fan beating the Celtics will always mean more.

And this is why he stopped giving effort and wanted out. The LEADER should have been KD, it should have been KI. It was and is neither. There won't be any question who the leader is on Sixers.

My money is on Ben asking out of BKN before the end of his current contract.

We'll see how it plays out.

Nets fan here

I wish James the best and I'm glad he looks motivated and happy playing for you guys.

I'd rather play with Embiid and Maxey too. Kyrie is a clown that isnt all in on winning. KD clearly doesnt care enough because he tolerated Kyrie basically sabotaging the season. The decision was an easy one for him to make.

I'll always root for Harden. Dude wanted to win so badly he played on a severe hamstring injury in the playoffs. That says it all to me. He was all in, until he saw that other guys weren't.

lmao - don't understand your passive aggressive post at all, most of us here have no hard feelings against Brooklyn. Not to mention that we've had our fair share of washed-up rentals over the years (i.e. C-Webb, Andrew Bynum) to know that the Beard is far from done and has another gear in his gearbox.
