And won the season series, and made their season an even bigger mess. Not bad, even though it was a slog to watch.

During most of the Lob City era, whenever the Clippers had a margin of 1 point starting at around the 3rd quarter, meaning the opponent was one score away from taking the lead and perhaps the game, the Clippers would get scared, timid and worried. They're afraid of being in the deficit, a deficit that they would ultimately never recover from. In those 1-point margin moments, the Clippers would do absolutely anything just to increase the margin of victory, so they take bad shots or force bait defenders into fouls to get free throws and points.

This is a phenomenon called "Scare Mode." Most of the time it has worked, the Clippers getting a quick score no matter how bad, difficult, or unwarranted the shot is. Opponents have caught on to the Clipper's fear of 1-point margins, so they try to make it a 2-point game just to ease their fears... only for their next shot to either tie the game or take the lead, psyching the Clipper's out and demoralizing them into a loss.

The Clippers have to get over this phenomenon. Just because the game is too close doesn't mean they should look to do anything to increase the margin out of fear of a loss. They still have a "play-not-to-lose" mentality at times, and this is something Lue has to correct. It also adds to the reason why the Clippers still struggle with Sudden Death Shots (a non-tying game winner made at the sound of the buzzer without any time left on the clock, ex. Derek Fisher 0.4 seconds vs. Spurs in 2004), and it's nothing to do with the fear of being traded like how it happened to Griffin and Harris after having Sudden Death Shots of their own.

We had no business winning that game but you have to be grateful for it.

I don’t want to hear about Jackson being tired. He just had a week off. He’s always made questionable plays. But that last one was so so so inexcusable.

Lue with some questionable decisions too. Sitting Mann and RoCo for long stretches. Almost whole quarters made no sense. They came in and things settled down and got done.

On to the next and hope others get it together. I’m looking at you Zu and Batum mainly.

They got a far better last shot than they should have, luckily it wasn’t close.

I've seen Lebron make from that spot a ton of times when I saw him get that pass I thought it was in.

It looked lined up right but needed a little more lift to get over the rim but a damn good look for the time given

Hope so too, because throughout the season I've been more worried about these "winnable" games than ones against stronger opponents. Hopefully that Rockets blowout was a sign of things to come against lottery teams.
