Grant is going to be a hell of a coach some day. His playing experience is already diverse (he surely knows the 3, 4, and 5 positions, even if he'll never have the body to be good at the 3 and 5 at once). He's book smart. He's outgoing to the point of being charismatic (how else did he become the player rep so young?). Etc.

The case isn't as extreme as it was for Mike Vrabel in football, because Vrabel just played more positions than almost anybody else in the modern era. But I foresee a similar second career for Grant.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

His 3 point shooting is a pleasant surprise.

Definitely noticed that from him this season. He doesn't drive with blinders on either like JB sometimes, he looks for the draw n pass to Rob or the kickout.

One of my favorite plays from last night (there were many), Grant caught a pass in the corner, the defender closed out hard, Grant blew past him, avoided another defender, and hit Jaylen for a WIDE open three.

The low ceiling talk with Grant is kind of silly. I hope the Celtics try extending him this offseason, because dude will get PAID if he hits restricted free agency.

What are you thinking? Daniel Theis money around $8-$9 mill for 4 years. In that ballpark?

I said going into last season that Grant would be one of our biggest surprises/one of our most improved players.

I was a year off. He has played well and consistent, pretty much this entire season. Knock on wood.
You can tell he put in a lot of time on his 3 and it's nice to see he shoots it with confidence.

The next step I expect/hope he makes for next season is getting better at putting the ball on the floor and
driving to the basket. You can see slight improvements in that area already, but I expect him to get noticeably
better next season. As for his defense, he was solid last season and has made big improvements defensively this
season.

He is a super bright guy and a hard worker. The game has slowed down for him. I continue to expect good things
from Grant. I'm glad he is on the team.

I could see Grant Williams in the 3-pt Contest, in the future.

Very nice recap of grant’s improvements. Stunning really to see when it’s all laid out together in 1 article. He literally got better at everything

Not exactly high volume, but Grant is in the 97th percentile as a post up scorer, and the 91st percentile as a spot up guy.

Please extend him this offseason, Brad.

The closeout driving has been a very nice addition. I'm guessing if you just looked at data since Jan 1, it would be even higher. He seems to be more confident doing it lately.

If he goes 10/14 from the field and makes his next FT... then gets shut down for the season lol.

EDIT: Grant won't make the actual 50-40-90 club 'cos he won't meet the minimum # for FGMs and FTMs.

Very solid #7. Jae Crowder 2.0. Average but versatile defender who excels at just one thing, corner threes. Every team needs glue guys like him. One thing I don’t like is how much he whines this season.

I've been saying this all along, don't undersell his ceiling.. he was a really really good and skilled college player who improved a ton, he works hard, he's a high IQ player. All that is reason for optimism. I don't know if he can get *great* as a defender, the PJ Tucker impact level people talked about when he was drafted.. but it's possible. I don't know if his shooting will hold up long term but it's also very possible. Possible he improves from other spots on the floor, too. Well-rounded switchable player with good defense and good corner shooting, competent spotting up, posting up and attacking on closeouts is a perfect 3&D four.

Who can not root for Grant Williams? He'll probably never be a star, but he gets every inch out of the talent he has and then some. He's the embodiment of Celtics Pride. A real throwback.

His confidence in trying out things he didn't use to do in real game time minutes is peaking. Just early in the season, he wouldn't try finishing through contact or in transition, slinging skip/crosscourt passes, and passing out of closeout drives. Dunno who to give credit to (Ime, Jays buyin to more team ball, Grant himself) but I like how his game is trending. It certainly helps the flow of the offense when even role players are able to put the ball on the floor and playmake on the fly instead of just standing around the perimeter to catch-and-shoot (hi Semi!!).

Yea that’s what I’d be hoping too but I heard on the Celtics talk pod that forsberg was thinking 4/32 or 4/36 which I’m like sign me up right now.

Yup. Was actually just thinking yesterday that Tommy would be loving Grant and praising his development and what he's been doing for this team if he was still with us and calling games :)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

true.

Poor Semi. Grant is only 23 and is playing 10x better than Semi was at age 26.
