Hell, I think if it is top 4, it’s a chance it still gets traded.

for who?

this FO has not made those types of big moves and have been rather restrained in how they operate. I see them keeping the pick and building around RJ

I’m calling the Spurs and offering the pick, IQ, Obi + future picks for Dejounte Murray. With room to expand the trade with Mitch (S&T) , Burks & Kemba or Fournier added for salary matching reasons.

idk why the Spurs would trade Murray. he's still 25, just made his 1st all-star team. and the Spurs already have 3 1sts this draft

I watched the end of that game, that guy is going to be a future MVP candidate.

Banchero is looking good as well as a perennial all star

if the Knicks decide to let Mitch leave in FA, Mark Williams would be a solid replacement. not the same vertical athlete as Mitch, but still a lob threat, and a great shot blocker + he has some touch in the low post and improved his FT shooting to 73%

The Spurs, Grizzlies, OKC, Pacers and Blazers are all potentially going to want to sell their picks.

I keep saying a slick move would be to trade that Mavs 2023 pick for a later lottery pick this year because even in a weaker draft it’s better than 25-30 in next years draft the Mavs are fitting to get.

Especially when the Knicks might have assets to trade into that same range using second rounders.

Flipside no team realistically can bring in 3 rookies and not mess up developing them. Look at the Knicks for example.

I could see Wizards and Blazers as potential suitors for Randle, maybe Spurs too, so hopefully we can pick up an extra 1st

West is tough. fully healthy, I see at least 6 teams better than the Mavs: Suns, Warriors, Grizzlies, Nuggets, Jazz, Clippers. + other solid teams like Wolves and Pelicans

outside of Luka, what do the Mavs have? Brunson may be gone this offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if that Mavs pick was late lotto next year (esp. if Doncic misses any time)

that being said, I would trade the pick for the right deal, whether that be a late lotto pick or to move up from our own pick into the top 4

I have no problem rostering 3 rookies first rounders, in fact, I want the Knicks to do so. you just gotta live w/ the results:

Pistons did it last year and have gotten pretty solid results w/ Bey, Stewart, Hayes (just a miss on the player, not a development issue)
Rockets drafted 4 1st rounders this past draft: Green, Sengun, Garuba, Christopher. they're getting production from 3/4 rn
Pelicans in 2019 drafted Zion, Hayes, NAW. Hayes was a head-scratcher tho since ideally a stretch-5 is needed w/ Zion

you just gotta draft the right players

Jabari is gonna be fun as hell to watch if he ever learns how to dribble into something that isn't a contested midrange shot. Also still very interested in what he'll look like in p&r, I swear I still haven't ever seen him in a p&r this year that got him a good look in the paint (that's with makes and misses in these videos).

If we pick in the 7ish range, I can easily see us trading into the top 4 with all the assets we have.

7 + Dallas pick + Future protected 1st + whatever for #4, then select Jaden Ivy.

4 quarters don't make a dollar in the NBA. Having an elite prospect is way better than having several decent young players. I don't care if the Dallas pick turns into a lotto pick down the road.

Having a top 3 pick is way better than having 2-3 late lotto picks.

in regards to the Mavs them moving KP was pretty smart. If they draft a center like Walker Kessler they are a lot better

Brunson
Bullock
THJr
Luka
Kessler

Then their bench is Dimwiddie and Bertanz. Though to be honest I would be surprised if he makes it to 21. In this draft he could go lottery. Another scenario is they trade for Richard Holmes. Regardless moving KP I think let’s them improve around Luka.

As for Detroit. That is fair, but three of those teams the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Pacers. Have set rotations with set youth. Detroit’s roster was bare and they made mistakes drafting Sekou and Hayes. Bringing in more rookie’s wasn’t an issue.

It's very rare for a team to trade down a lottery pick. Especially if the players are not in the same tier among the analysts. In the last years, all I can remember were the Fultz/Tatum, Doncic/Trae, Shai/MylesBridges, and Mikal/Zhaire Smith trades.

Currently, it appears to be a 4 player draft. It will be really tough to trade up for a Top4 player. Only maybe if the other team has a really serious logjam in the Top4 player position.

Might be the best option too. This draft is really bad.

I mean, the Knicks can't draft for **** within the lottery if the pick is outside of the top 4 anyway.

I don't know that I'd expend that much draft capital wanting to move up because those top 3 picks are hella overpriced.

I'd rather the knicks kept what they have in case Zion becomes available.

This kid is one to watch going forward

He's still a bit raw, only putting up 6 ppg on 35% from the field (36% from 3), but I can see him taking the leap into James Bouknight territory.

I really like all three of the ignite guys for the Knicks. This team…. No this city is unforgiving to raw rookies. Ignite has them playing in a NBA system and while none of them look like stars, they all look NBA ready.
