Wiggins for Barnes and Holmes
or
Wiggins & 1st for Williamson and trash

Kuminga will need more minutes and I don't GSW retaining Wiggins after the end of next season. Let's hope he wins a Championship this year and move on.

The Barnes + Holmes trade would go a long ways to improving our size issue. Also Barnes could partly make up for when / if we lost OPJr. Thats a nice idea. It also would make me more onboard with taking a youngster with our 1st rather than trading it away.

If we were to do that, are you thinking of replacing Belly with another big or another wing? How do you see Barnes? I see Barnes as more of a OPJr replacement (more PF than SF) even though he would probably start at the 3 for us. Anyways, should be an interesting offseason.

Barnes is the new Swiss Army knife. He plays the minutes OPJ, Iggy and a spot starter.

Holmes is the muscle we have been missing. Belly will be gravy if we have room.

Bottom line is that I don't think we will resign Wiggins. Maybe trade him off for a couple pieces to retain maybe one in the long run.

We have Poole coming up and before you know it, the rest of the young core will need to get paid too.

But in no other circumstance.. because we should absolutely be trying to re-sign Wiggins. I'd bet we could potentially get him at 20-25m/year, and that would be a coup. Remember: we cannot S&T trade him, and he will hit free agency a year (or two?) before any potential CBA spike, so teams wont have buku cap room. Unless he wants to try and lead a team again - and another team is foolish enough to try it - I think we could keep him at 3-75. Or maybe a 1+1 deal to get him to the cap spike

But I would absolutely not deal him for Barnes/Holmes unless he's gone, and I certainly wouldnt prioritize Poole over Wiggins.

That is where the rubber meets the road. Wiggins has become an excellent player in our system and it just comes down to economics. Wiggins is a more complete player than Poole, but he is in between our core of Curry, Thompson & Green and the next generation of youngsters, Wiseman, Kuminga & Moody. For the sake of argument, lets group Wiggins and Poole together. I don't see ownership keeping both players on contracts that will run concurrent with the young generation getting extensions.

Contract/Control end dates:

Poole 2023 RFA
Wiggins 2023 UFA
Wiseman 2024 RFA
Kuminga 2025 RFA
Moody 2025 RFA

The Warriors have some very difficult decisions coming up.

Poole will not command $20M a year unless Detroit goes off the rails. We have a slight downgrade in Lee and Moody able to take these minutes.

Wiggins has blossomed, but overlaps to a degree with Green and Kuminga. Food for thought, Green is a UFA in 2024. He could be the odd man out. Wiseman's defense development will dictate the value of Green as we get closer to 2024.

I actually like Hayes. He's a good defender, and I think over time he will develop some craftiness to his game that'll help him get to the rim. Right now he's all left hand. Not a great shooter either.

I could actually see the Pistons biting on Poole. They might see his lead scorer mentality as a good match for Cade's all around game. I'd be shocked if they gave up Bey though, he's their second or third option right now. He almost certainly holds more value than Poole.

Dubbs should go after Gobert with Wiggins/Wiseman/picks.

Gobert can't switch, but he will be the answer from the midget ball problem. And don't have to wait for Wiseman to do something (probably not good for Dubbs anytime soon).

No way. Gobert will be switched to a good shooter and then his effectiveness is neutralized.

That is why Utah has had problems in the playoffs, the effectiveness of their best player is diminished in the post season.

Gobert is not their problem. Last night is exactly what Utah screws up. Unfortunately, Kerr might do the same sh*t. It is Mitchell that is the problem. Gobert got guarded by midgets, while Mitchell kept launching.

I would have called TO and setup Gobert until Kerr stops using midgets to guard Gobert. And the very reason Denver is dangerous. Denver will none stop pounding inside when playing against Dubbs.

Klay and Poole each made at least 1 3-pointer with Gobert staying back or making a late closeout during the run.

He absolutely is the problem, just like the Clippers exposed them in the playoffs. Terence Mann feasted on him when Gobert gave him too much space.

A couple of years before, Curry exposed him from the outside.

You could try not blaming him but Utah has won one playoff series I believe, in Mitchell's 5 season. It's a collective failure of the team and Rudi and Mitchell are the biggest pieces.

Now without Rudi, Utah may not even be a .500 team. But in the playoffs, they've won 2 out of 4 1st round playoffs series and have lost all 4 2nd round playoffs series in four seasons.

They're not trending in the right direction but maybe they could surprise this year if they get red hot.
