I have yet to see a good explanation as to why Kyrie can practice at HSS. One would think that the loophole for that would work for games.

That being said, Adams is going to look even more ridiculous when Kyrie can sit on the bench and walk freely around the arena, but can't enter the game.

Time for the Nets to just pay the fine. Who cares anymore?

We really going to let a fully healthy Kyrie sit on the bench?

NBA also sees how stupid the rule is. And prob won't do anything.

Yeah... he can buy a ticket, since behind his teammates on the bench, with no mask, unvaxxed, closer to other fans... but he cant play with the same guys he plays with on the road and practices with in the same arena he can still come to as a spectator.

it is beyond abusrd.

That would take 5-6 weeks for him to qualify as fully vaccinated per the mandate assuming dose 1 is today.

Kyrie is an idiot for not being vaccinated

The rule that prevents him from playing but allows him to walk into Barclays and attend games is absolutely absurd.

Both of these things are true. The Mayor's office should be embarrassed to even defend this position.

The Nets need to defy the Mayor's office and dare the city to do something about it. You're going to allow unvaccinated people in the building, and unvaccinated players to play if they are from out of town, but Kyrie can't?

If the Nets don't file a lawsuit by Wednesday, they are stupid. This is clearly now not about public health and they are targeting Kyrie for being an idiot.

Eric Adams is essentially doubling down on his position this morning.

Its looking like he may not change this rule anytime soon. Or by the playoffs.

This is no longer about public health. Its about virtue signaling.

The Mayor doesn't want to allow Kyrie to play right after firing hundreds of city workers for not getting the vaccine.

It has nothing to do with public health. Since fans and away players who are unvaccinated can play at Barclays.

The Nets do not need to be caught in the crosshairs. Let Kyrie play and pay the fines. The rule makes no sense at all anymore.

You know the situation is ridiculous when even Knicks fans on Twitter are saying the new rules make no sense. I don't know anything about the Mayor but he has made himself look a fool. I also thought his press spokesman didn't help his cause by giving a flippant answer to people asking for an explanation on Twitter his reply went down like a bag of cold sick. People were questioning whether this is about public health at all anymore.

The only way it gets changed is if theres public blowback.

The Nets being second fiddle in the city doesn't help either. If this was the Knicks its all the media would be talking about.

They would make Adams look like a fool. With the Nets its not being covered enough.

They are getting negative national media attention though. That my be the only way to exert media pressure. Local media is still up the Knicks ass.

As of right now, this doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Him being able to attend games but not being able to play is stupid period.

The problem with his answer is that even if you take Kyrie out of the equation it still doesn't make sense. A member of the public can't work in a restaurant but can now go and eat there for example unless i'm misunderstanding the rule.

I tried to find how the private sector rule being separate from the key2new York mandate makes sense but it doesn't in any form or fashion.

This isn't even virtue signaling. It's 100% politically motivated to cover his ass because he just fired 1000 city workers.

If the mandate forbid unvaccinated fans from attending games, and unvaccinated performers from entering NY arenas regardless if they are on the Nets or a visiting team, he would have a leg to stand on. I wouldn't even argue, because at the end of the day, Kyrie should get vaccinated. But this isn't even about his vaccination status anymore. How can he be allowed to enter the arena, but not allowed to play games? It makes zero sense and has nothing to do with public health and safety.

This is not about public health, and the Nets need to sue the city TODAY.

So he can attend to a show for fun but he can't actually work. Nice.

If it's directed against anti Vax Healthcare employees, I don't see why it can't be specified.

If Kyrie feels for the people who have lost their jobs as he said then now is the time to speak up about it tbh Kyrie can take himself out of the discussion because he will be fine which ever way it goes but there is no justifying this new change. People who have lost jobs can go and sit all day in the same coffee shop they were fired from. Looking from the outside it looks like the Mayor bit off more than he could chew with the firing of people and is now trying to save face by scapegoating Kyrie in an effort to seem as if he is treating everyone the same. Rather than making himself look strong he is making himself look a fool and whats worrying is he a fool with power.

You have unraveled exactly why Kyrie isn't playing and it was never about anti vaxxx, hence he should get vaccinated. Him being POLITICAL as well didn't help the team. No one is paying to see him spew his political ideology. Get the vaccine and then go bicker about how you don't agree with the mandate.
