Missed out on the PS5 again. It's kind cringy how bad it's availability is right now. A year after it's release and folks still can't get one. It might be time to finally lay down the controller...

I feel you dom, I’m not really much of a gamer but if the PS5 ever became available I’d like to pick one up. I miss playing the latest NBA 2K.

I play a little bit these days, so it feels weird for me to have to fight the masses for something I'm not really going to play all that much. I could get one if I decide to pay $800 plus for, but I can't stomach spending that much on a console. Would rather spend that on my kid.

However, Elden Ring and the remastered Demons Souls are two games I will play. When that happens is anybody guess. Christmas 2022?

I don’t know if you guys are aware that Xbox(Microsoft) just agreed to purchased Activision for 68 billions, that owns many of the major franchises and studios that include tittles such as Call of Duty, etc , plus they also purchased Bethesda, the studios that own the Elden Ring etc. The rumor is that those games will eventually become exclusive for Xbox/PC.

I don't think I could change tbh. I really only make time for the FromSoft games these days, so I don't have a whole lot to look forward to. I might play the one with the robot dinos since the first one was enjoyable.

I love the art style of FromSoft games, but man, do I really really suck at them . Gonna take me ages to get through this bad boy. I need to get better at the combat for these games - it's pretty nuanced, and you need to hold your nerve in the face of giant phucking enemies with huge reach on their attacks. My reading of their attack patterns isn't the best.

Outside of that though, I recently downloaded the Mega Man X collections for the Switch. One of the classic franchises I'd never really played much, as I also sucked at Mega Man . I'm up to the last boss stage now though in X4, really enjoying it. Once you get the gameplay down, it's a lot of fun.

I was strolling thru Target the other day and saw a series X in the case. Kind of surprising. Texted a few friends who may have had a need.

The FS games do have a certain pacing that many find difficult. The first one I played was Bloodborne. It took me five hours to get through the very first stage. Many of the games I had played prior to that were just button mashers. Bloodborne made you have to learn the combat and strategize.

Since then I've beaten all the games. I've beaten Bloodborne, Sekiro and Dark Souls 3 many times over. My personal favorite gaming combat experiences came when I beat the Demon and the Saint in Sekiro on play through 7. That was some white knuckle, edge of my seat gaming.

Now I'm a complete FromSoft convert. I don't find anything else remotely close to as interesting.

The bosses in FS games certainly require you to be very focused, patient and able to recognize attack patterns. I remember just jumping in and flailing around and expecting results when I first started. Got my ass handed to me every time.

Some of these bosses are tough no matter how experienced you are. The Nameless King in DS3 comes to mind. I didn't keep count, but I probably lost to that SOB one hundred times. No lie. Lawrence, Ludwig and Orphan in Bloodborne were super intense. The Fume Knight in DS2 was infuriating.

I have enjoyed other games recently. Nioh 2. Last of Us 2. Hollow Knight. I haven't played any of the Zelda games. I realize they're universally loved as some of the greatest games ever but I'm not sure I'd get the same experience out of them as others. Plus, I don't own a Nintendo.

I got that puppy downloaded last night and was ready to roll. Played around with the parry in the tutorial section till I felt like I was ready, then went to depart for the open world. Pressed triangle triumphantly against the massive wooden door that separated me from my imminent journey into glorious battle......and was greeted with a "game not fully installed" message. Oh man. Two hours later and it was finally at 100%. By that time I only had enough energy left for about 15 minutes of gameplay. Took out one of those gnarly looking giants and a berserker knight. Was finally felled by a skeleton stab squad. Then it was bedtime. I'm intrigued so far. Might take me 6 months to beat, but it should be a fun ride.

Yeah, it's not been too bad so far. Beat some ghost boss in a canoe just now. The cool thing about this game is you can stealth kill. Wiping out mobs isn't half bad when you can backstab the lot of them.

Atleast you're a veteran FromSoft guy, so mobs and large enemies don't scare you too much given the familiarity with the combat. I'm busy chitting myself at regular mobs

That's pretty funny. Heck, if you're not familiar with it you just don't know.

I cant remember which class. The blue Arabian knight looking fella with the dual swords. I don't really pay it much attention though. I tweak my character to best fit my playing experience, rather than staying within some figurative class outline.

Did you ever play Witcher 3? This game reminds me of that. FromSofts attempt to duplicate it.
