Yeah, no matter how you spin this, it's a seriously bad look for Adams. Idk who his advisors are but someone need to get in his ear as he is looking/sounding like a clown.
It's gonna be disastrous when Kyrie is at the Knicks game on March 13 unmasked but not playing due to this idiotic mandate. He's setting himself up to fail.
It adds more fuel for people who are against the vaccine as it will be clear as day the mandate has nothing to do with science but all about controlling people. Good luck getting people to vote for you again Adams.

You have unraveled exactly why Kyrie isn't playing and it was never about anti vaxxx, hence he should get vaccinated. Him being POLITICAL as well didn't help the team. No one is paying to see him spew his political ideology. Get the vaccine and then go bicker about how you don't agree with the mandate.
Exactly...
Kyrie is making a political statement, that is what he does. He said he is anti-mandate and wont get the shot. Problem with that is the mayor just fired a thousand people that are just like Kyrie and that is the bed they will have to sleep in. If Kyrie gives a crap about the team and is not anti-vax then he should get the vaccine and make a statement against the mandate using his stage. Question is really how much of a team player is Kyrie? Or does he just march to the beat of his drum dragging along whatever followers he has or think like he does. I can tell you the majority of people do not think like Kyrie, and in his mind that gives him a superiority complex and justifies his "higher senses". It is Narcissism and by definition the complex lacks empathy, people would argue he is giving but donating from one source to another is not truly empathetic. They do these things to justify their uniqueness, "nobody can possibly understand my thoughts" - basically god chosen. Listening to peoples needs and owning their feelings and desires and then sacrificing by putting your thoughts and feelings second shows a truly empathetic person. He should do this for his team, and get vaccinated for family, to show the community it is safe, to show children and young people its worth doing for the greater good.

Like I said.
If Kyrie was on the Knicks it would be a much bigger deal. The local media and radio hosts would be hounding Adams constantly.
Now its just the national media. But still bringing a ton of media attention to what should have been a positive story for Adams.
This was supposed to make him look good. Now it just makes him look stupid because of all the attention on Kyrie.
If he was smart he would just create an exemption for the employer mandate for entertainers. Instead he wants to play hardball.
if I'm the Nets I start blasting Adams publicly.

Adams is a sh*thead but we can't forget that Kyrie also owns blame here for not getting vaccinated.
This pretty much ensures we will not make it out of the East. We can't win with him being part time.
Harden was right to leave. He went about it poorly, but who would hitch their wagon to this situation?

The ship has sailed on Kyrie getting vaxxed. Even if he went to get his first dose today, he's 5-6 weeks from being able to play.

I’m just still upset by that. I wanted the big three to play together because it would have been the most unstoppable force ever seen I just know it. Harden would have been fully committed and nothing would have stopped them not even Nash. I really wanted us to win a ring together. It really sucks .. it was a sure thing

This is seriously depressing. Sometimes I really wish I could just step away and ignore this team the rest of the year for my own sanity but I can't. I've been a fan since I was 12 years old.

I agree, this season has been aggravating. It's like watching an implosion in slow motion. I don't see how the city is just going to give "Entertainers" an exemption and then say to another group of workers they have to vaccinated.
Back in the Atkinson era, we had a team that we knew had little chance of a chip, but it was great to see our dawgs out there giving the league hell.
We are all in it too deep now to turn away. No matter what happens though, we still have an open window next season.

It is beyond senseless and it shows they did not take into account the scenarios that could have arisen. A mandate should be health driven and not punishing, yes it is behavior driven to get the highest number of people vaccinated but this is ridiculous. It's completely avoidable, should have just been lifted, not like this. Let the laid off people go back to work, what is wrong with that, I mean the reason to do so is the extreme drop in the number of deaths and overall cases.

If Adams and NYC wanted to to avoid this controversy they could simply say the mandate does not apply to non-NYC residents.
Then it wouldn't apply to Kyrie. And you wouldn't have to repeal the mandate or "send the wrong message." Instead theyre choosing to enforce it in the dumbest way possible.
Instead of everyone discussing NYC successfully getting past COVID, more media outlets are discussing Kyrie not being able to play.
Just an idiotic political strategy by the Mayors office. These people are morons.

The wya I see it, this just paves the way for the Nets to pay the fines.
Adams: It makes no sense but the rules are the rules and we follow the rules to the T.
NetS: Ok rules are rules, it seems to be dumb to intentionally break them, but rules say its just a fine, so we will pay the fine.
Early on I thought it made no sense and was a non-starter to pay the fines. but now it is clearly the case that everyone agrees its dumb Kyrie cant play and mandates are being lifted, so intentionally paying the fines seems a bit more acceptable then it once was.
Adams said he talked to Tsia, im sure it was discussed on the cities stance if they break the rules and pay the fine.
There is no way they lift the private employer mandate. much bigger money then the NBA has been fighting that for weeks.
The Nets are cursed. if it wasnt for that mandate we would be witnessing another 28 ppg 50/40/90 year from kyrie, harden would still be here all 3 would be on extension and wed be sleep walking to 60 wins. instead, we have this dumpster fire

I personally think theres no way the Nets pay the fines.
They would essentially be openly breaking the law. Would be a PR nightmare. Could ruin their relationship with the city. And violates NBA protocols to follow local rules.
This rule is just beyond stupid.
Nets need to publicly blast the city. Embarrass them. Have Kyrie sit court-side and conduct interviews about how he can't play.
Once there is enough pressure they might change the rule.

I think silver would be ok with it. he doesnt want one of the premier teams sitting at home while a hawks/heat first round series draws like 10 viewers. ton of money lost. also cant have 2 years in a row with guys like lebron/KD sitting at home for later rounds. BOTH could miss the playoffs and lose in the play-in right now.
As i said earlier, prior to recent events, paying the fines was a non starter. but the mayor just said "its dumb and doesnt make sense and i didnt write it, but tis the rules so we follow it".
Well, ok then... rules say the reciprocation for ignoring the mandate is just to pay fines. so... pay the fines. easy for Adams.. he can keep his stance of "its all silly, i dont condone it, but again we are following the rules. kyrie is already in the arena"
only backlash is really "the rich can pay their way around the rules" which would be awful PR, but again, i think right now the PR is on the nets side.
your path makes sense to. to embarass them. Adams seems pro-nets though, so working with him may make sense.
I'm losing alot of faith in the nets. i viewed them as having turned into a great franchise. but if the nets cant figure out a clever legal way around the loop hole, they need to make some big internal changes. and if Tsai can influence it with his money, then he needs to revaluate his status as a big swinging D*ck
If proky were owner, this mandate would not stand in the way very long.

I think you might be over estimating how much power the Nets org have in this situation. If it is true that the mayor is afraid of law suits if he changes the employment mandate then he has more to lose if Kyrie is allowed to play as it sets a precedent. He has used Kyrie as his figure head to prove that he won't buckle no matter what. How far is the mayor prepared to go he has already made a fool of himself by standing by a rule he has admitted is unfair and that he has the power to change he is either politically inept or he has another reason for not changing it. Even if the Nets decided to pay the fines who knows what the repercussions could be for the Nets if they open him up to law suits. I admit that I read about the lawsuits from a leaked source online and I don't understand how much power he has but it is the only reason that makes sense about his decision. What are the Nets supposed to do against a man who can change the rules to fit any loop hole they find. Tsai having money makes no difference because he is dealing with people who have money and power so what do they care.

So if they end up playing the Raptors he won't be eligible. Will be interesting to see if that comes into play.
As of March 1st , Ontario has lifted the vaccine mandate and is allowing 100% capacity indoors. I'm not sure if that includes international border crossing however.

It doesn't.
You need to be vaccinated to enter the country of Canada.

The Nets should be suing the city. Adams is not doing this for public health reasons.

I think it should be Kyrie, not the team. He's the most aggrieved part (lost wages). I don't know if the NBAPA would be willing to take up a case like this.
