No, this is not MVP caliber.
Good player though.

One of the more overrated players in the game today. He isn't close to the big 3 centers ability wise or in terms of on court impact.

Still didn't forget how a faction of fans were acting like he reinvented the wheel because he did a few euro steps.

Won't happen under Spo, but he's capable of putting up big scoring games, which is the final piece to the puzzle for Bam, since he's already great defensively.

Why can't players just have a really good run and be great without "MVP" being thrown around? MVP is a three horse race right now. All it does is make people discredit Bam. Just make a thread saying how awesome he is.

Only knock on Bam is that he misses a ton of games every year. Some don’t like the fact that he doesn’t shoot 3’s, and is more of an old school center on offense, but defensively he’s out guarding the perimeter, often on the opposing team’s best player.

All good, people already discredit the Heat, there's not much a Bam MVP thread can do to change the average NBA fan's perspective on anything Heat related.

He really reminds of an Amar’e Stoudemire-level player. Like that tier of star

He's more of a PF with his face-up game in the triple threat position. Actually, PF is his natural position, he just plays out of the position on the Heat.

People always discredit the Heat? People were picking them to win the ECF with the 6th seed last year. They were massive favorites tonight over the two seed. No one's overlooking the Heat dude.

Just to put things in perspective:

February 2022
Embiid: 33.1 MIN| 34.3 PER | 61.5% TS | 2.0 WS/48 | Philly 6-4 record
Jokic: 32.6 MIN | 28.6 PER | 62.9% TS | 2.0 WS/48 | Denver 8-3 record
Bam: 33.2 MIN | 27.2 PER | 61.4% TS | 2.0 WS/48 | Miami 9-2 record

Bam is truly ascending to the next level

In some ways Bam reminds me of Anthony Mason. Very good player but I don't see any MVPs in his future

LOL, nah, don't see it. His shotmaking is way better than Mason's IMO

No.

Adebayo with a 3 is the future archetype for typical elite NBA centres. The ability to guard 1 to 5 and to protect the rim is the most valuable today.

What's extreme about saying Bam with a 3 is an mvp caliber player in the future? You would think I was talking about Randle.

You could say that about any of Allen, Mobley or Ayton - his contemporaries (Mobley for a season or two max). Could you imagine just attaching a 3 ball onto Robert Williams with his freakish athleticism? This isn't call of duty and you could make these empty general statements about a lot of random guys. Ben Simmons with a 3 ball is?

His hallmark skill is being a big that can move his feet on the perimeter, but his block rates are mediocre. Only 6'9, no perimeter offensive skill whatsoever. Slightly positive on/off's.

He's a good center, calling him elite or mentioning him in the breath with the MVP caliber bigs running the league right now is ridiculously disrespectful. What they were doing at 24 trumps what he's doing now also.
