Yeah, it was a dumb move not to extend the third year. But with a rough first year, catching Covid, and an early injury, with no real camps, there wasn't a lot to base an extension on.

What is a bummer is we finally have a solid culture for rookies to develop in, and we aren't developing any rookies. Jalen started to develop, but hadn't shown enough before that extension deadline came up.

I think that is why I really wanted to keep that pick from last year, I think we could have had a rookie learning from our solid top 6 players. However, now would be a good time to pick up a 0-2 year player for our second two way contract. Half of a season is still a solid time to learn from our guys. Maybe another combo guard with potential, but hasn't found the right fit.

Man! Morant is becoming something truly special. I know that the discussion of the draft is more or less seen as a fruitless debate since our front office is apparently shortsighted and cares nothing for development with interest towards the future. And of course living in the moment is fine whilst we're still so dominant!

And as a result of that acceptance, I've predominantly foregone any draft discussion for this season. But what IF we actually had a chance to acquire a Ja Morant 2.0 to play with Booker in the backcourt going forward? One player that I've come across and still resonates with those distinct parallels is JADEN IVEY. I mention him as he'll likely be in the top 5-6 of the lottery. HOWEVER! IF Bwgood is right, and if the Suns would ( foolishly) look to trade Ayton for a cheaper alternative AND draft assets, I'd absolutely look at one of the teams in the top 5:
Detroit, Houston, OKC, Orlando, Sacramento. With us taking back a cheaper option AND the teams unprotected 2022 draft pick ( They can make the selection for us). I'd definitely target Ivey to give us a 2nd chance at a Morant level G/SG to put beside Book with our core going forward. Best part would be that he'd still be on his rookie scale contract. So he'd be cost controlled for 4 yrs too!

And for anyone who maybe unsure of Jaden Ivey and the Ja Morant Comparison, check out this clip:

And his Tankathon profile ( for BWgood).
https://www.tankathon.com/players/jaden-ivey
For the record, I truly hope that we choose to resign Ayton and find our Paul predecessor in free agency. BUT in any trade of Ayton in free agency, There's NO WAY that we should be getting anything less than an unprotected first back from one of these teams AS Ayton is an elite ( potentially) top 5 center ( soon) and was a #1 overall pick himself in a loaded draft. And has proven very effective in the playoffs against other nba elite bigs!!

I might have been more wrong on my assessment of Morant than any other prospect, ever. I really wasn't a big fan of his going into the draft and thought he was too skinny, didn't' play enough defense, didn't shoot well enough and I just didn't think he would get this good this quickly. Boy was I wrong. To go from the most entertaining rookie to ROY to taking his team to the play-in's to the 3rd best team in the league to being om the MVP ladder. The guy is amazing

The Kings- Mavs game was a replica of our game last night. Both teams were down by double digits ours was 14 in late third/ early 4th while Mavs trailed by 18 in the 2nd Q. Dinwiddie put up 36 points while Cam had 38. Mavs were down by about 8 with few minutes remaining. Only difference was Cam had a game winner while Dimwiddie didn't. :)

Apologies if this has been shared already, and also for not sharing it earlier, because the answer was Mikal a few days ago. Freaking brilliant. https://poeltl.dunk.town/

In the beginning of the season, the refs were FINALLY beginning to curb fouls, especially those weak BS touch fouls. Defense can finally play defense. The game was progressing smoothly and fans were generally in favor.

Slowly the NBA has reverted back to the nonsense of old. Fouls are ticking up and star players are racking up free throws like last year.

Lakers losing to the Rockets in OT is so hilarious. John Collins shot 0/9 with 2 points and 5 rebounds against the Bucks in a loss.

On track to be Lebron's 2nd worst team (Cavs his rookie season). 17 games left and they have to go 8-9 to beat the 35-47 mark.

They still have the Suns twice, Nuggets twice, Pels twice, Mavs, Sixers, Jazz and Warriors. They also play the Wolves, Cavs and Toronto twice. The only "easy" games are the Thunder and Wiz twice. The Minny game next week is going to be a fun one

Yeah, but no matter what they are gonna be in the play-in and everything could happen there.

It's all about Anthony Davis. If he can be back for the play-in they can matchup pretty well against the Pelicans.

Yeah they are, or at least should be, the best team on paper but given how they've played, AD is always in street clothes, Westbrook can't shoot if his life depended on it, Lebron seemingly playing with a variety of injuries and an underwhelming supporting cast, it's just not a given that they get through the play-in.

I think people may have crowned the Sixers a little too fast after they beat the Knicks in two games after the Harden trade lol.

KAT with 56 and 16 tonight on 6-9 shooting through 3 quarters. Jesus. He really is greatest 3pt shooting big man of all time.

Him, Jokic and Embiid are really in a class of their own in terms of best and most skilled bigs in the league today.

I was worried Towns might surpass Booker's 70 point game but feel relieved he didn't. Can you imagine if Towns surpassed his good buddy in points, Booker would never hear the end of it resulting in a fight & friendship gone out the window. I know this are " WHAT IFS" but the probability of their friendship ending if Towns surpassed Booker's point total is remarkably high.
