Re: Bronny James
It’s really hard to make the league now, don’t matter who your dad is. There are kids who train more than him and harder despite all the advantages bron you has, and it’s because they HAVE to. Bron you hasn’t taken the game seriously Since 6 years old like a lot of kids do.
That being said, he has a chance because of that team he’s on.
He’s played on stacked teams forever and those practices are the best competition in the country. Lebron probably won’t play with him because he won’t be nba ready in time, but bronny a has a chance to be Alex Caruso

He's athletic but that doesn't make you an amazing basketball player.
of course not, but when i've seen the occasional highlights of him he's making basketball plays and skill plays, whereas his teammates seem to be dunking all over people. i'm just wondering if he's simply not athletic enough compared to his peers or he's both not as athletic and lacking in skills.

I don't understand how people even know enough about high school players to have a strong opinion. Are you guys watching a lot of Sierra Canyon games?

Jordan's sons weren't NBA level players. It happens. Not everyone can make it, even if you have a relative who played in the league.

So, whose the best player on his team, if its not him? I'm just curious to compare them.

I don't disagree with most of this, but it's kind of unfair to use "Not even the best player on his own team" against him when his team features the number 2 player in the nation who is also a year older than him. Being the best player on his own team would basically require him to be the best high school player in the country.
Edit: I looked at the ESPN 100 first. I see Bailey as low as 7 other places, but the point still stands.

Re: Bronny James
The idea that hes 43rd ranked in HS doesn't mean much either.
He was ranked much higher his sophmore year. These things change quickly.
His stock could go up or down his senior year by a lot.
Not to mention he could still grow. What if he ends up being 6'6 or 6'7?
Its just too early I think to make definitive statements.
But hes certainly not some kind of can't miss prospect that would for sure be one and done.

Re: Bronny James
How good will LeBron really be 2 years from now?
I ask because if teams would draft Bronny just to get LeBron, LeBron would have to be playing at least top 10 ball to make it worth it. LeBron is still top 10 now, but there could be a big difference from 37 to 39 years old. As the old saying goes- father time is undefeated.

Bronny's current rankings among the 2023 highschool class
Rivals.com: No. 30 player
247Sports: No. 52 overall.
ESPN: No 43rd.
On average he is ranked around 42nd in the nation on his class. Lets assume he maintains this level of play in college. On average
there are 15 international players drafted in each NBA draft. Y
That would put Bronny around 57th ranked in a 60 player draft. (I understand he could declare for the draft any year of college competing with people from all years of college from freshman to senior, but i'm simply using a law of averages).
Bronny is basically projected to be a D-League level player who never makes the NBA. A lot of people would argue that his name and his school have probably increased his ranking by another 30 or 40 picks and after playing in college he would be ranked around 100th in draft prospects which basically means no chance in hell.

And he wanted to draft Brittany Grinder. But to me fair, its too early to judge, a lot of top picks werent on a radar 3 years before their respective drafts,

Being big college basketball fans (because of recruiting) or just fans of the draft and everything that leads up to it, you tend to start getting a good feel of how a player is projecting to be a solid prospect or not around the end of their junior year in high school.
Normal high school games dont mean too much. Its usually the big tournaments, the international play, the big time camps and stuff like that which are a better indicator on how good a prospect is.
You also tend to find the more reliable guys who do the scouting reports on guys in high school.
With that said, if you dont want to dig through all of that crap haha, 247 sports (the best when it comes to high school rankings in my opinion) has him ranked at 52nd overall and he's been dropping since they started ranking his class. Since the majority of his time in high school Covid has been going on, there really isnt as much big time tournaments and camps to get a great read of him. One benefit is Sierra Canyon does tend to have a good amount of games on ESPN or ESPN+, so its not too hard to watch. But with all that when Ive watched him and the majority of scouting reports on him that dont inflate him up because of who his dad is tend to all say the same thing.
6'3 combo guard with solid but not great athleticism. Solid shooting form but not great shooting production. Solid handle but not a dynamic handle or dynamic half court game. I know Pelly24 says he thinks he is one of the best defenders in high school, I disagree with that greatly. I think he is an average defender who tries hard on that side of the ball. And with that, there is a reason why he is ranked as low as he is and continues to fall down in the rankings with each passing year. He is a solid D1 prospect but nothing much more at the moment because he really doesnt excel at any aspect of the game (speaking strictly on a high end recruit aspect). Take away his name and he is probably in the 60s-70s in the rankings.

Also want to be crystal clear. On the draft board here we usually don't talk about prospects that are still juniors. Still a ton of variables between then and by the time they're draft eligible.
So many guys still have growth spurts in them, lots of guys who are still growing into their bodies and seeing significant growth in athleticism isn't all that rare. And you just have guys who develop their games later in their high school years compared to others.
But ya at the moment Bronny without the name is looking more like a solid D1 prospect. Most guys ranked similar to him, size/athleticism and so on aren't even really expected to get big minutes their freshman year if they're going to a blue blood or any top tier team.
But ya still plenty of variables still in play from the time he's in college or G League and even more until he's draft eligible.
