Like he has every year, he has played GM and forced management to hire his buddies. Russ was a mistake plain and simple. Now he will deal with the fallout. Should he shut it down? Pretty sure that was some writer trying to corner him, but he's too smart to answer any other way. Play the season out. After all, he's still Lebron.

What excuse he make lol ? And he just mom a ring 2 years ago y’all act like he ringless or something

I don't like LeBron. But I don't get why he's copping heat over this. It's a throwaway comment, and not at all controversial.

Was there some concern that he would shut down for no apparent reason? I’m not sure why he deserves either credit or blame for this.

Talk is cheap. His defensive effort speaks louder.

If you were in the same situation probably you would do the same. Typical hater reaction.

Yep, his defensive effort speaks louder. How do you measure that? Stats or just your opinion. According to statmuse his defensive rating is 108.3 for players who have played more than 2,000 minutes. That would put this 37 year old in the top 25 in the NBA in terms of defense.

I'm not sure how reliable this stat is and if it's comparable across teams and players, but even at face value, it's a significant decline from last season.

Imagine thinking that not shutting it down, WHILE STILL IN THE PLAY IN WITH A QUARTER OF THE SEASON LEFT, is what any healthy player should be doing

Last season it was 106.1, I wouldn’t say that is a significant decline…

It is and it's a far cry compared to his peak in Miami.
