It's even higher if you remove the times he shared the floor with Schroder.

Jumps to 118 on 280 possessions! That’s pretty insane TBH.

I do not miss Schroder lol.

With Tatum, Cs have a top 7 offense. Plummets to 28th without him.

For reference, not much difference in offensive rating with or without JB, per CtG. Defensively is where Jaylen's presence makes a major difference based on the numbers.

LeBron is slowing down while Tatum is getting better. How much longer until Tatum flips LeBron in the player rankings? During the 2024 playoffs LeBron will be 39 and Tatum will be 26. I'm thinking Tatum is better by then if not sooner.

After that? No reason Tatum couldn't be #3 behind Giannis and Durant.

Steph and Harden are getting older, not the defender Tatum is. Embiid and Jokic both struggle w/ conditioning and defending in space. Doncic is not the defender Tatum is and doesn't keep his body in pristine condition. Morant is a guard with an at best average jumper. I guess it's the defense that really sets Tatum apart for me. Give me the two way guys.

Kawhi is a wild card here. 2 way beast, only 29 but currently out with a serious injury.
What? What about Embiid, Jokic, Doncic?

Those 3 will be better than Tatum. Morant is playing, at minimum, as good as Tatum now, and he's younger. If his jumper is average, so is Tatum's.

I think reasonably, Tatum will be a top 7 player.

But better than everyone outside of KD and Giannis is just ridiculous.

EPM- 11th (5th in their wins added)
DPM- 12th
LEBRON- 8th (4th in their wins added)
RAPTOR- 5th (3rd in their wins added)
RPM- 5th (3rd in their wins added)
BPM- 25th***
VORP- 14th
Bball reference win shares-13th (tied)

All while shooting 33% from three. It’s hard not to be even more bullish on him, going forward.

That all lines up with him being a top 10-15 player this year, which is a reasonable take.

What are Ja's numbers?

Pretty similar with advanced stats, Tatum grades out higher on the higher regarded ones, Ja has the edge with the bball reference ones besides win shares. Ja is awesome, an incredible player and clearly a great leader already. But Tatum is the much better defender, and has slightly better scoring gravity, 3.75 as opposed to 3.44 for Ja, both are in the 100th percentile though.

I think Tatum has been a top 7 or 8 player this year (but won’t argue with people saying 10-12ish), think Ja has been top 9 or 10. Both amazing, both extremely young and improving fast.

Been calling for more of these actions for both JB and JT. It's cool that they have that tough shotmaking in the bag but would love it so much if they can get a bunch of EASY POINTS on the regular just with offball movement.

19% of tatums shots were mid range jumpers in oct/nov down to 16% in dec and now 12.5% in the new year( even lower the last 5 games).

Not a coincidence that his play has been getting gradually better with less mid rangers. I’m not saying never shoot them but attack the rim first everyone’s been spamming it for days and he’s finally attacking to the next level.

Embiid, Jokic, Ja are all amazing players no doubt but we are talking ceiling and Tatum can hit a higher level than those guys. Who has the biggest weakness of the 4? Probably Embiid with his conditioning and defending in space, Morant second with his jumper.

Morant's jumper is not as good as Tatum's. That's just silly.

Who doesn't have a pronounced weakness? Tatum. You can argue his passing is good and not elite but look at the offensive rating numbers I think Zoya posted a few posts ago.

Doncic worries me more than Embiid, Jokic and Morant. Wings are just so hard to stop.

3rd, 4th, 5th best? The important point is Tatum can be the best player on a title team.

Smart and Rob leveling up, Grant becoming a freaking stud high end role player, these things are really important going forward. But, by far the most important thing to come out of this season is the bolded. I personally think we probably need a better second guy, but it’s not a hill I’m going to die arguing on lol.

Tatum is top 5 in 2022.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
