Last fall I bought a pair of nice looking Nikes that got me a compliment from a Youth that made my Friday night. Since then twice I've had incredible pain in my left foot, including this week, and I'm convinced it's from these **** shoes.

I will be getting some old ass comfortable and sensible shoes this weekend.

Well I was mainly interested in trail shoes and it turns out Hokas are a thing with them! Way to add more hours of procrastinating google research for me to bounce through! :D

I keep coming back at the moment to a pair of all red Air Force 1s- I am absolutely thinking "at some point I'll return to the office occasionally, and I could keep these pristine and wear these on Fridays!". I worry they might be the opposite and be really comfy (I've had a pair I basically wore as loafers before) but get eyerolls from youths knowing I'm too old to pull them off.

Am also contemplating becoming cowboy boots guy when I return to work.

Hokas are where it’s at. Embrace the ugly. Your feet will thank you.

Well you'll be pleased to know Kostya Tsyzu's second son made his pro debut just now and might hit harder than his bro Tim. Lefty too, should be a fun one to follow.

Any home gym nutballs buy a Tonal? My wife surprised me with one for my birthday (not here yet - supply chain delays), and I'm pretty excited about it. Just was wondering if anyone had used it and how they recommend starting out? I've been decent at staying working out at home under Covid but have had periods where I haven't stayed as consistent with it. One thing is for sure - I won't ever be joining a gym again.

Did you fabricate my quote or did I post that after going ham on brandy? The sentiment do ring true, though.

Yoooo, some dude got fkin DDT'ed last week and survived that skullduggery to exact a straight-up devastating one-punch knockout. Heartwarming!

I don’t want to feel like we’re a 45 minute drive to the city because then we’ll never actually make the drive. She would probably live on a farm if she could. I thought Tosa was a good compromise but it’s so much money.

What do people think of Menomonee Falls for buying a house? Seems to be more affordable than some of the other areas we are looking like Tosa, Brookfield, Elm Grove. If it was like 5 mintues closer to downtown, I feel like I would be all about it. But seeing a 25 minute drive is some sort of mental block to me. Also never got great vibes anytime I was driving through.

I do just need to get over the fact that I'm not in my 20's anymore and that I'll (hopefully) be having kids soon so it's time to give up city life. :(

We are in Germantown and we love it. Pretty close to the highway. I have to drive downtown 2-3 times a week and it's about 26 minutes so not too bad.

I always struggled to find quality footwear, nothing lasts very long on my feet. Probably because I'm tall and heavy and I walk a lot and I've twisted my ankle like a thousand times playing basketball and it's permanently swollen, I don't know.

One day last year I was visiting a friend in a small town and my eye caught a sign "Chromexcel", that's easily the best boot leather in the world in my opinion. That was enough to get me through the door, and from there I was sold. One man operation housed in an old shop, beautiful smell of leather, old boot making machines. I had no idea how boots are made but the guy walked me through everything, I picked chromexcel exterior, kangaroo interior, layers and layers of veg tan for the soles, Daynite outsoles and a custom design based on an old Czech army boot with goodyear welts.

Then he took a bunch of measurements and found a hardwood last that roughly matched my foot and started gluing strips of thin leather on it until he was confident he had the shape and size just right. Days later I went by for a fitting and he had made one boot out of cheaper leather, with soles, laces and everything, just for me to try it on and then he was gonna throw it away. I was blown away that this is what he had to do to make a pair of boots, I actually kept it as a souvenir:

And then one day finally my boots were ready:

Was it cheap? God no. Nothing cheap or fast about the whole thing. I still cringe a bit thinking how much I paid, but I'm not regretting it. I know how chromexcel ages and I absolutely love it, and I know how these boots are made and I have no doubt they will last a lifetime, just change soles and laces every few years.

You can find boots made like that, Nicks Boots comes to mind, but man, it's a different experience wearing something that is exactly cut to your foot... easily the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned. If you can swing it I highly recommend finding a local boot maker in your area and having a pair made, do it once in your lifetime. Great experience, great product, keep the craft alive.

No value add here since I don't have a tonal but curious to know how you like it.
I started working from home and got a pull up bar and some free weights where basically every hour or two, I walk down and do a two min workout to get the blood flowing. I'm in better but not great shape. Tempted to upgrade.

Does anyone have a good home loan experience in the Milwaukee area that you’d be willing to recommend?

We’ve only been approved by one lender who we found through our realtor and I’m stating to think it’d be a big mistake to not shop around. The whole process is super overwhelming.

I refuse to succumb to the allure of old man new balance shoes.

I stumbled upon a pair of Adidas volleyball shoes last year that may be my favorite athletic shoes I've ever had. They're mesh and breathe like running shoes but are more stable like basketball shoes. they also aren't fugly like all things new balance.

I've held roughly 10 mortgages through Port Washington State Bank. Always a good experience. No BS. Closest.one to you is probably Mequon, but it's not.like you'll ever have to go there once you sign.

Ask for Linda Chay. She's awesome.

I am perpetually underwhelmed by any type of beer aged in gin barrels. I like beer and I like gin but breweries just have no idea how to use them together correctly. They are usually just way too gin forward. Posting this after seeing a brewery aging one of their pils in a gin barrel and already knowing it'll be trash. I feel like the way forward is mixing 1:20 barrel aged to non to get that slight gin taste without it being a juniper bomb.

We used Guidance Mortgage for a mortgage and 2 refis and have been happy. Located near Lilly and Capitol.

I'm not sure I've ever liked a beer that was aged in any sort of liquor barrel.

I second this for wine. It's mostly just cheaper/gimmicky wine in the $10-15 range, but it's all horrible.
