This has not worked out at all in our favor.
Year 1: KD is rehabbing, Kyrie plays like 20 games, Kenny gets fired because DeAndre Jordan thought he was better than JARRET ALLEN, who is now a top 5 center in the sport. 1st round out in the bubble playoffs. A wasted year.
Year 2: Marks makes the worst decision of his GM career by hiring Steve Nash, who is a good cheerleader but doesn't know what else to do besides that. Kyrie begins his erratic behavior, randomly missing games, attending parties while his team was actually playing the same night. We spend a crap ton of assets and traded away an all star center for James Harden, who apparently didn't even have this as his first destination. We get a 1/3rd of a season MVP level play from an out of shape Harden, KD is out for most of it with an injury. Enter the playoffs, we win against an injured Celtics team before going on to lose to the Bucks in 7 with both Kyrie and Harden getting hurt in the process.
Year 3: Harden comes into season out of shape. Kyrie refuses to get vaccinated and CHOOSES to become a part time player. Instead of drawing a hard line in the sand and telling Kyrie to either get vaccinated or start looking for a new team to play for, the Nets coddle him thanks to KD being a garbage leader who doesn't put winning first, drawing the ire of Harden who already has one foot out the door. After a good start thanks to a cupcake schedule we end up in first (while getting blown out by good teams, a sign of things to come), but reality sets in with covid, Harris getting injured part time Kyrie, Nash continues to be the worst coach we've ever seen come through here and KD gets injured. the team freefalls, Harden becomes a cancer and fakes an injury to get traded, the main piece of the trade that comes back to us won't be ready until lord knows when, and Kyrie is still ineligible to play at home.
We are now destined to either miss the playoffs entirely, lose in the play in game, or get bounced in the first round.
Did I sum everything up?
This has been a complete disaster. Are you guys even having fun watching this? I'm not. It hasn't been fun at all since these guys came here to be honest. Its just been drama, injury after injury, garbage coaching, and failure.
Sean Marks needs to fix this mess.
We punted year 1 and it was a fake bubble season anyway
year 2 was one of the best seasons of basketball in nets history.
this year has been a mess. but what are you going to do. you cant predict a pandemic and state mandates taking away a key player. Politics should not factor into basketball but they did this year and that stinks.
We still have 3+ years od Simmons/KD/Kyrie.
