Taking a bit of liberty with the title makes for a catchy subject but it does seem a wee bit sensational.

I think it's a leap to suggest that experience == quality.

The NBA has plenty of experienced crews that are plain awful.

That said, the NBA would do well to randomize crew assignments.

Having teams treated like second class citizens with respect to crew assignments wouldn't sit well with me as a player, coach or executive running the franchise.

It would be informative if someone could cross-reference this with the league report that clarifies what calls were incorrect. Then you could see patterns of which ref crews routinely flubbed the rules.

Overall, I think the NBA refs are fantastic. All you need to do is watch a college game to appreciate how much better they are at the NBA level. I'm not going to quibble that the Wizards get the worst of the best. Frankly, the Wizards don't deserve better until they start becoming relevant.
