Would really love to add him or Sochan to the Grizzlies. Perfect 5th guys in the closing lineup for Memphis long term.

Re: Tari Eason
Many opinions on this guy are misleading because of his size and what he's asked to do for his college team. He does look like a typical college SF/PF but he has the skills of an NBA SG/SF. He has fantastic isolation ball handling creativity and even the ability to dribble in traffic at speed. He is more like Stephen Jackson with some Kawhi. Being that he's tough and rebounds, he may quickly earn the playing time necessary to successfully become as good as those guys.

Bad game against Kentucky. Got owned a few times in one-on-one battles with Tshiebwe and the announcers were trashing him for his body language all game long.

My guess is he would pull a Jalen Johnson except it would tank his draft stock. Watched that team and they went about a few games freezing him out intentionally and that is when they went on that losing streak. Guaranteed they have bad vibes on that team.

Re: Tari Eason
Do you view him as a 3 who can play 4 or a 4 who can guard 3s?
I'd like to see him on the floor with Nas Little, Justice Winslow, and Josh Hart in a switching defence/speed offense, but both pro scouts I talked to have such wide differences that I just don't know who to believe. It's a toss up for me now if I want Portland to take him or Murray with that second lottery pick...

I think he can defend PG, SG, SF, and PF. He can play a Ben Simmons defensive role.

He was a DOG tonight. Had a bs foul call against him and he fouled out or LSU wins that game. They absolutely bullied Arkansas and will take them out in Tampa if they meet again. Frustrating game, but Eason did everything tonight. And he even went left on a drive to the basket!

Re: Tari Eason
This is the third straight game he's fouled out of.
His aggressive style of defense and relentless steal generation is a major part of his appeal, but if he can't play his style while maintaining discipline at the same time, his appeal is dampened.

I think someone fouling out from playing too aggressive defense can be corrected, someone who fouls out from being a hack machine due to trying to compensate for sucking on defense is another issue.

This guy is a pro. He scores on three defenders driving from the perimeter at 4:55 minute mark. You can do all of the off-season training you want, no trainer is going to give you what it takes to do this at his size.

He's extremely talented. Needs to go somewhere where they'll keep him in check. Strong coach and demanding vets to rein him in a bit. Put him in a young lineup with a permissive coach and you could be in trouble.

Exactly. He needs to go the Spurs or a team like that. If he does he could be scary good. His motor and aggression is elite. He will be a hack and foul out alot early but he will figure it out. He checks out and pouts too much but he will grow up.

He is the biggest alpha dog in the draft. Love to see it. Now he just needs to grow up the attitude, approach, and IQ.

Re: Tari Eason
I think I like him more than Murray the more I look. I think putting him on a team with Dame/Hart and Chauncey will keep him in check and getting better. Sort of feels like he can fit that Draymond role on D, but he's not a good enough playmaker to do Draymond things on offense. With Dame/Nurk/Ant/Hart/Winslow I don't see him needing the offense to run through him. IDK tell me if youvthink I'm off...He's an question mark wrapped in a riddle...

The Moose wrote:So, Eason is now 4th in BPM (behind only Edey, K Murray and Chet), top 25 in OBPM, 7th in DBPM. His OREB/BLKS/STLS are off the charts for a wing player and his outside shooting is coming along. I'm a believer in his shooting potential, FT% is up near 80 now, I think he'll be fine in that department. His stats are super eye popping when you consider how high his usage rate is. I think he is really underrated given his productivity + physical profile. I suppose the concern is whether he has the ball/playmaking skills to play as a wing or whether he will be pigeonholed as a 4, but for me, I see really high level potential here
just to update:
His two way production is just insane. Like, off the charts. Yes he's raw around the edges, and he can get in foul trouble but I can look past that when a guy plays with this much activity.
His offensive production+efficiency alone is quite remarkable, a 30USG while having a 60%TS, at a high major school. This is very rare for anyone outside of back to the basket NCAA bigs.

Only 14 guys have done it in 15 years. Guys like Haas, Ward, Edey, Carey, Cockburn, Garza are all traditional post up bigs, so if we filter them out it becomes even more exclusive in terms of wings. When you factor in how raw Eason still is in a lot of ways, it's pretty amazing he has this kind of production.
Then you add in the fact that his offensive output is done in conjunction with having freakish defensive activity, and you get a scary prospect.
There really hasn't been a prospect that has this level of two production on the box score. (I say that because of course there is a lot of output that doesn't show up in the box score that is obviously important, so I'm not trying to make the claim he's the best two way prospect in a long time etc)

These are the only high major players in the last 15 years that come close to his block and steal rates, and they don't hold a candle to his offensive production. We're talking about a prospect with the NCAA defensive activity levels of Thybulle and RoCo, while producing offensively like NCAA Michael Beasley.
His shooting is coming along, he's up to 79% from the ft line, mid 30's from 3 on a pretty low volume, but I buy in to his shooting potential as he has shown massive improvements in that department over the past 2 years. He looks like he has great measurements and physical skills, big hands, long wingspan etc. Huge defensive versatility.
For me, he's a top 5 prospect. The ceiling is just too high.

His ceiling is top 5. He may have the highest ceiling in the draft with his size, athleticism, motor, and activity. His attitude could cause him to bust and not even get a 2nd contract. All about where he lands.

Been on the Eason train for a few months now. I could honestly see him going as high as 3 in this draft. He's not going over Jabari or Chet, but I've got him in the next tier. For my money, his motor, style, and skillset combination is more conductive to winning than anyone else outside of those 2 guys (that includes Paolo and Ivey). If the Kings somehow moved up to 3 I wouldn't be mad if they picked him.

Is it just me, or has his ballhandling improved pretty dramatically?

Exactly. Winning. This guy could be a monster much like Mobley when it comes to winning. Defensive impact and activity that is contagious and helps the whole team play with an edge. Much like Caruso for my Bulls.
