I like Cole a lot as the spark plug offense coming off the bench and with more years left on his rookie deal his production and value would be hard to replace. As for Ross, I like him on the second unit in his current role. However he doesn't have much help and our opponents know that as well, making it very difficult for him to be productive. He often looks like a chucker in games. I don't hold that against him because it's obvious that is what he's asked to do. I see value for him and the 2 second round picks in a trade scenario. Taking back a bad contract might be enough for a middle to contender team to give up a future first. I don't see a trade for what will probably be a lottery pick by NY without giving up franz. And I'm not giving up franz.
so why not trade him at his peak value?

I’m not anti-Cole but I don’t think anyone on the team is untouchable.

His peak value might be as the first player off the bench for the team hoisting the Larry Obrien trophy in few years?

The more I think about this the the more I think a Ross to Dallas move makes sense in a package that brings in their draft-rights.

Something like Ross and the 2022 SRP for Dwight Powell and the Cavs 2022 FRP.

Dallas gets a competent SG and still gets bench depth with a high second (a very tax-friendly contract comes on this as well - value in getting out of the first round in and of itself). Orlando gets a pick upgrade, is "fair" to Ross and gets a one-year rental to replace Lopez or Bamba.

I love Patrick Baldwin with this selection as the next ePat.

F-Wagner cannot be traded and Suggs won't be traded. The other Magicians should not be looking to new mortgage offers in Orlando until pre-season starts !
Next years team could have up to 8 new Magicians. At least 5 new Magicians seems fairly certain.

I like Cole Anthony and I think he could be a big part of a rebuilding Magic roster. But, I think a trade to the Knicks makes a lot of sense for him. The first thing he does on a big national stage (dunk contest) is put a Knicks jersey on, which makes it really clear where he wants to be. If the proposed trade by the OP was real, I'd encourage the Magic to take it.

How about a twist...
ORL sends Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, Terrence Ross (expiring & maybe rejuvenated for a year),and ORL's srp(#31?)
NY sends their first round pick and Evan Fournier's now horrible deal?

I think getting off Evan is a big deal and, if they believe Cole can be their PG of the present and future, it could be a win-win. ORL drafts the best SG available(I like Mathurin) along with their own high frp and, quite honestly, maybe Evan picks it back up as a good-sized, good shooting wing next to Franz. I wouldn't trade FOR Evan specifically, but he's not a bad player and we've got the financial space- the pick is the big thing. NY believes they are much farther along than ORL and not looking for a teardown. They might prefer we keep TRoss and absorb salary into our cap, which we could consider depending on how we value their pick....best use of cap space for a bottom-feeder is to facilitate trades for young, cost-controlled players under contracts. We're not really ready for free agency yet.

Cole Anthony, DRose
Barrett, Quickley, Hampton
Reddish, TRoss, Grimes
Randle, Toppin
Robinson, Noel

Fultz, Suggs, bring back MCW
Fournier, Mathurin
Franz, Jabari
WCJ, Okeke, M. Wagner
Isaac, Bamba(?), RoLo

Maybe Harris stays or is a SnT, same with Bamba.
