Yeah the union doesn't want expanded playoffs because if it's easier to make the playoffs you won't need to spend as much. They also don't want tanking. What's tanking is interest in MLB.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm so curious to know what this looks like on a micro level for the owners, as opposed to macro as we hear in reports. Attanosio certainly sees things differently then, oh I dunno, Hal Steinbrenner. Sure teams operate differently based on market size in all sports, but it's certainly more impactful in baseball.

I think I'm taking the year off from baseball regardless of when they work this out. The hubris of these idiots is just too much. The CBA should have been worked out a year ago. Fools

That's the problem. MLB owners are not close to being on the same page. There are differences of course with owners in the NFL and NBA but nothing like MLB.

Weird about Robo umps. If they actually enforce a pitch clock they have to enforce batters staying in the box. Should be interesting. What's the larger bases all about?

With the bigger base my assumption would be it makes base running a little easier and also a little safer on the bang bang plays at a base.

Yeah definitely enforce keeping guys in the box. I'm all for speeding up ABs.

Players saying it’s okay to ban shifts is embarrassing. Basically admitting they don’t want to try and learn to hit better.

NFL expands the playoffs, fans like it, every team has a shot at the championship and two 4 seeds make the Super Bowl.

NBA expands the playoffs by adding 9/10 seeds for playin games. None of those teams have a shot at a title but it gives their fans a little taste of the playoffs. It's well received.

MLB wants to add playoff teams, every playoff team has a shot. A 3 seed won the World Series. Union says NO WAY. CANT MAKE IT EASIER TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE TEAMS WON'T HAVE TO SPEND AS MUCH.

MLB can get bent. Both sides.

It drops numbers and loses money for the one trick ponies. I enjoyed the shifts because it added strategy and provided a tool for our small market brewers to use. Oh well

I've hated the shift. A rocket up the middle or a shot into the hole should not be met with a gloved dude just sitting there.

With seemingly every pitcher throwing high 90s its never been harder to hit so I get trying to help hitters but I feel like moving the mound back or something would be better than banning the shift. The root of hitting issues is a decrease in contact and this does nothing to help that.

I don't mind the shift in general, but im ok with getting rid of the huge swings in the shift, like having 3 guys on the same side of the infield. Moving guys 5-10 feet here or there on the infield based on scouting or feel is part of the game.

A pitch clock is desperately needed though and I'm glad they are good with that change.

So I assume it's a ball if the clock hits zero. At what point does the batter have to be in the box? What if he waits until 2 seconds left on the clock? If he's out of the box can the pitcher throw anyway? When, at 5 seconds left? 6? IMO batters should always be in the box. No reason to adjust your gloves, take swings, etc... between every damn pitch.

If they want to speed up games they need to go picture and picture with the commercials. No need to warm up for 2+ minutes in between innings.

I don’t see how a pitch clock does anything.
