this is mostly gonna be european leagues guys who didnt play in the nba (or at least not in their primes)
what would be good comparisions to guys who thrived outside the nba? not necesarrily in level of play but also stylistically and body Type/athletism
people like diamantidis, spanoulis, niko galis, oscar schmidt, dejan bodiroga and other guys who for whatever reason never got the chance to play or thrive in america despite being stars/legends in europe ?
of course if there are players from other leagues or ncaa who never played in the nba to a significant degree they can be included too, people like len bias who early never got to shine in the nba
(feel free to include any other guy i forgot about)

Vladimir Tkachenko was unique, kind like 7'3 version of Wes Unseld. Very intimidating rim protector.

Re: Nba comparisions for non nba legends
I hate all european zero-defense gunner guards from Petrovic to today's age, and ESPECIALLY their fans.
Most of them would be exploited physically and just not be able to create efficient offense, as shown with Spanoulis, Fracazzo - not european but eh -, Chacho, Navarro (at least he could shoot)... Teodosic did the best because he's hella big, and still was not that great.
God I hope Llull went to the NBA.

They were exciting to watch though, I like Navarro the most.

Dude, that's because you don't read spanish message boards or twitter (DON'T).
And as a Real Madrid-leaning guy, I don't like Navarro that much

Spanoulis' been Spanoulis in his late career with the Olympiacos. Olympiacos Spa would do well in the NBA.
Belov(pivot one), Schmidt(brasilian) and Galis are the best players of the basketball, but didn't play in the NBA since the merge(1950).

Yeah that's true. I think he or Navarro would do well in a Jamal Crawford kind of role, but they're too flawed and limited athletically to be more than that IMO.

Spa might, but Navarro was more of a screen-set shooter. He would be fine in Klay Thompson role on the offence, but defensive end is the issue with him.
Crawford was better sshot creator than Spanoulis, though.
I don't think Diamantidis belongs in that group. He was well-rounded player on both ends. Also, Papaloukas was well-sized and had good fundamental and shooting touch, he was one of the best efficient perimeter players in the Euroleague.

Re: Nba comparisions for non nba legends
Yeah I was not counting Diamantidis in that group. Guy was a legitimately excellent player, the rare guard with a huge body, reat vision *and* shooting.
Rudy did quite fine in the NBA, and Diamantidis is just a clearly superior version of him, at everything (except dunking I guess).
