Both at their peaks, who would you pick for your team?

Green. Significantly better offensive player.

Green seems like the clear cut answer here. Even if his defense is a bit less impactful, his playmaking and in the case of 2016 was actually a decent scorer make up for it definitely.

Is this an any era question? Or just in the current NBA?

I think Big Ben is pretty much the ideal defensive player for 2022. He's an elite rim protector that is extremely mobile defending the P&R or switching on the perimeter. That being said, I think his terrible offense would likely be exploited far more today than it was in his day.

The defensive impact he had on those pistons teams is unparalleled. Dude was an absolute beast as a 6'8" center, undrafted.

Give me a prime Wallace over Draymond, figure out the offense later.

Actually we do have parallels for Big Bens defensive impact.

Yeah, he was pretty much "parallelled" in his own time by a handful of people.

Relative to their eras, Ben was better. Come on now.

draymond because he can do so much more. but if this question were about defense at their peak - that's a much tougher question.

What does his height and draft position have to do with anything? Also, Draymond Green wasn't exactly drafted high nor is he tall...

Draymond does a lot more, as others have said. Easy choice for me.

Total defensive package, it's Wallace and I believe by a clear margin. Stronger, more athletic, and every bit as agile and mobile so there isn't a loss from 2004 defensives to the 2016 versions (where in reverse Green would suffer). The value with Green is his importance in the W's offense which Big Ben couldn't replicate. Had Green been drafted to a different team then the Warriors I'm not sure his name would come up in these conversations, but it is what it is. Peak vs. Peak, on the teams they peaked with, I'd give the edge to Green.

Ben Wallace easily. Green is only good when he’s on atg stacked teams, we saw how pathetic he looked when curry was out in 2020
Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

16 Draymond in playoffs without Steph

19/11/8/2/1 on .568ts and 43% from 3

They were a Harden gamewinner away from going 5-1 with Steph out.....

For the thread answer is Draymond and its not that close. Defensively its Ben but not a gigantic gap. Offensive gap is too large. Draymond is one of the best playmaking bigs ever and at peak he was a good scorer and great 3pt shooter in that 16 season with stretch big impact. Were talking about someone who went 32/15/9 on .955ts in a game 7 of the Nba finals. Ben Wallace under no circumstances or Dream Teams is capable of anything like that. His offense stunk

Draymond probablly 3-4 tiers above offensive player than Ben was.

It's Draymond, but If I have lots of offensive creators and need more defence, I would pick Ben. Ben was much better defensive impact player than any version of Draymond.

Even if you think that Green's offense is busted by Curry pressence (which is arguable, which GSP already pointed out), there is no circumstance where Wallace would be decent offensive player.

I don't think the defensive gap is that massive, although I haven't studied Wallace defense in years.

What was he doing IN 2020 when they were one of the worst teams in the NBA?

1. He missed one third of the season.

2. Warriors coasted all season long.

3. What was Wallace doing in Washington?
