Walker Kessler posted his second triple double yesterday against Texas A & M. 12 points, 12 blocks and 11 rebounds. He's 7' - 1" with a 7' - 5" wingspan. His post move footwork is impressive. I think he'd be a perfect addition for us but with Auburn now ranked #1 he's starting to get too much attention. Unless he bombs out in the tournament next month I think he's destined to go higher than where our pick is going to be. Mike Williams of Duke might be our next best hope. He's nowhere near the incredible shot blocker that is Walker Kessler, but he's fundamentally sound, he's had good coaching at Duke, and he's used to playing next to elite talent and blending in. I've seen Williams have a couple of pretty impressive games against quality opponents. The Tournament should be interesting this year.

Good read. Dean has been on the money in the past and has missed big. His insights are solid.

Great article. Thanks for posting it. It would seem that by the time the Bulls pick at least one of the trio of Mark Williams, Walker Kessler or Zach Edey will be available. I think Kessler will go earlier, but you never know. I'm praying that Williams drops to our slot. He'd be a good developmental bench big with upside. But even Edey could probably carve out 10-15 minutes a game giving Vooch a breather, unless we find a way to bring TT back after this season (doubtful due to $$$).

The article is pretty down on this year's draft class, so it might be a good thing for us if Portland's pick does not convey this year.

There's a lot to like, he's 7ft, defends, rebounds, can play the P&R game, and stretch the floor as well. Plays hard too.
In the end he could turn out to be a better NBA player than Chet Holmgren.
Here's a very good performance by Kessler against a top team:

Definitely answered elsewhere but going to ask - do we get the Portland pick if they make the play in tourney?

Give me EJ Liddell or Walker Kessler

No, they have to make the playoffs.

Murray Bros Balled out lastnight.

I'd take Kris at end of 1st. Lefty is going to be good!

What’s the story with this big fella? Looks like he has some major flaws (terrible rebounding, block digits, besides for this game)… even though he seems very athletic and long? Already 21, but he looks like a raw prospect who could use some NBA development.

Oof I dunno. Seems like a lanky college C with really small (shoulder) frame, short arms, and sub-par athleticism. I get Mo Wagner vibes. He also loses the ball a whole lot. I can’t imagine him dribbling against a pesky NBA defense.

I know it’s sick, but, habit took me to Tankathon.com and I got a little giddy when I saw we’re at #22.

That’s a good pick!

Why do people like Kessler more than Koloko (who has similar stats but seems far more athletic)?

Is Michael Foster Jr the type of body we need? I am not expecting great but I think we need a solid body like his. Not sure I would pick him... really have to see how the draft board shakes out, but for our current needs he makes some sense. Meh maybe not we will see as it gets closer. He also might be available in the 2nd round.

Michael Foster Jr. and E.J Liddell are two of my favorite prospects. Justin Lewis is a interesting kid as well.

Anybody know much about on Nikola Jović?

Looking at his stats via tankathon he's averaging 2.4ppg, 3.4rpg, 4.4apg and 3.4spg whilst shooting 93% in 27mpg.

How do you play that many minutes and average more rebounds, assists and steals a game than points, especially for a guy that's listed at 6'10".

Very peculiar stat line.

I watched the highlight video and all I got from that was that he loves a good rim hang after he dunks.

Mid first to early second round projections... But if he changed one letter in his last name he would go #1 in the draft

Thank you for your brilliant in-depth analysis

I just find his stats rather strange, his highlights show him shooting from range with fadeaways etc but his stats he's a play-making defensive specialist that only shoots once or twice a game and hits them very regularly.

Just very bizarre stats.

Agreed. I have seen him projected all over the place. Any highlights I have seen, he seems OK but really hard to judge. It is hard to tell sometimes how those skills translate to the NBA. Apparently they use him as you described. Obviously his name caught my attention being that one letter off so I kinda was interested lol. Definitely lanky there is no doubt about that. Although he looks beefy compared to Chet Holmgren lol

He'll be long gone before we make a selection, but after watching that very entertaining Iowa v Indiana matchup yesterday I would have to say that if I was a GM with the first pick I would have to give lots of consideration to taking Keegan Murray with the first pick. He's going to be a very good wing in the NBA. He can defend 1-4. He touches all the statistical bases and has the intangibles like a high BBIQ. Maybe Banchero becomes a better pro, but Duke has produced very few superstars relative to their high profile. Maybe Chet Holmgren gains strength and mass and become a rare unicorn player. But maybe he doesn't and gets man handled at the next level. Right now my top two prospects are Murray and Jabari Smith from Auburn, who I project as a "4". And as for us it will come down to Walker Kessler or Marc Williams, depending on which one is still available when we pick.
