But similar in ways to tom Brady, he is certainly breaking the conceptions of how athletes "should" age. You could argue barry bonds is the godfather of this era of prolonged peaks (or in bonds' case, ridiculous HGH fueled end of career uptick) but that is a whole different topic

Lebron really is kind of the Barry Bonds of basketball though, if you think about it

With that said, I had a blast watching him dominate tonight. It was truly a spectacle.

Do you also factor physical attractiveness in to the legacy of basketball players? I'm just wondering what other factors matter to you that that aren't on the court.

I do.
And that's why I think Laetitia Casta is, easily, the GOAT.
Way better than Lebron James, and it's not even close

I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of Lebron; however, I am seven months older than him and still play in a 5-on-5 rec league, and I am amazed at what he is still physically able to do night in and night out.

How would folks feel about him if he were a lifelong Cleveland Cavalier, season 19?
Let's say he won one title in this alternative timeline, the 2020 Bubble title.

We gotta make a flow map at this point for the people that go sooooo far out of their way to hate this man.

Good numbers/loss = statpad
- big numbers in second half but not first half = statpad
- big numbers in first half but not second half = he quit
Big numbers/win = steroids
Bad numbers = not MJ/washed

Think that covers the major ones

Realistically most wouldn’t have him close to the GOAT convo with 2 rings with Cleveland and only those 2. NBA fans really really value rings and care about it too much IMO.

I think one of the best examples is that everyone looks at KD’s rings with the Warriors as pretty weak but it definitely moved him up in the rankings.

I think LeBron's DNA should definitely be preserved for future cloning. There could be an entire league where every player was LeBron and every player was represented by LeBron. It would be a level playing field.

To put this into perspective Kuminga is probably the closest to Lebron in burst, speed and build but is 2 inches shorter.

Kuminga does not have nearly close the skill set that Lebron has.

Barnes has the power as well, and has more skills (passing, rebounding) but again is not as tall as Lebron and has nowhere near the burst in speed that Kuminga has.

Lebron's unique combination of all that is what makes him an All Time great and top 5 player of all time.

Of course we will, barring societal collapse. Time allows these things to happen. Advances in training, medical care and PEDs will only amplify great players even more. Longer and higher peaks and greater longevity. Less time missed due to injuries. Easier recovery overall from previously career-defining injuries.

Remember there were times people said there would never be another Magic or Bird or Dr J or Big O. Those players will always be great but future generations have given us players that are their equivalents or better. LeBron, Durant, Giannis, and the like. And generations to come will give us new players that break the mold yet again. Steph for example will not be the greatest shooter forever. Someone, at some point, will come along and bring with him the physical abilities of Ja or a young D-Rose along with the insane shooting skills and thus surpass Seth. This is one of the great things about sports. Generational talents do not stop arriving. A case can be made that there is a top 10 all-time player currently active in every major sport, with maybe half having GOAT-tier guys at the top (Brady and Mahomes, Bron, Trout, Tiger, McDavid). This will pretty much always be the case, and some of these guys will not just be GOAT tier but will become GOATs for a time (like Brady and Tiger have).

So yeah, there will be another LeBron. Not exactly the same player, but the evolutionary progression can look something like Magic->LBJ->Next guy.

No. There will never be a player again that can score, play make, and defend like him with that god-level athleticism. The fact he was a prodigy and had more hype than anyone entering the league makes it that much better. He has the bulls eye on his back from day 1, he didn’t have time to develop in the shadows.

He’s The Chosen One for real. Selected by a higher power to be the true GOAT.

His extra off the court stuff is sharing his opinion, making movies, and doing charity work.
