Nash giving Biid different looks definitely through him out the rhythm. Than you add the fact he got tired banging with Dre, yup don't get surprised philthy tanking games to remain 3 seed. I'll go even further. They don't want to be in a same bracket, it'll be wise to slide down and match up vs Bulls at 4.
Great clips, but the wrong takeaway in my opinion. The biggest takeaway should be his focus on not leaning & almost retreating at all times. He was always straight vertical to backwards leaning at all times. Sometimes he even retreated to avoid the Harden & Embiid foul baiting. It's most evident in that first clip. Embiid twice try to rip through to draw a foul on the same possession & Claxton just backed off & gave him space forcing Embiid to whiff both times. He basically did the same thing to Harden on the drive in the clip. Harden was so intent on drawing contact that he lost focus on the basket & lost his balance.
If possible, these clips made me hate the Embiid & Harden foul baiting even more, because when they whiff it's painfully obvious how deliberate it is.

Claxton earned himself the qualifying offer last night

no for real, I got shook when Dre went down with 3 fouls and the ankle roll. But Claxton came in and held his own despite the 60 lb weight difference. Might have been Claxton's best defensive performance to date.

ouch.
The part that he "forgot" to opt in kills me. That is a HUGE red flag.
I told those guys on the Sixers board to not trust Harden and they got mad. They're going to learn a brutal lesson.

Re: Nets @ 76ers | 3.10.2022 @ 7:30 PM on TNT/YES
I had already thought this pre-game but last night made it glaringly obvious that the Nets are a nightmare matchup for the 76ers because they can't guard the Nets AT ALL.
Nets are actually much more athletic(even w/o) Simmons than the 6ers, so the Nets kill them in transition and with up-tempo/early offense. KD and Kyrie can get to wherever they want on the floor with zero resistance and while Embiid is a force, because KD and Kyrie are elite 3 level scorers, it eliminates how effective he is when the perimeter defense is mediocre. That leaves easy matchups for Seth, Bruce Brown to do their thing. That's a disaster for Philly. Then the bench disparity is also glaring. Dragic came in an ran the offense smoothly, Mills hits open 3s, Clax is elite defensively on the perimeter and the rim. Anything good from James Johnson is gravy. Philly would need to play Embiid and Harden all the mins to keep it close in a 7 game series, which will wear them down both, which is advantage Nets.
On the flip side, if Kyrie can lock down Harden, it might be a sweep. From a Philly perspective, there is no way that can happen again. He has to abuse this matchup and force help, otherwise their offense won't work. The Nets also clearly knew all his moves (all 3 of them, lmaoo), so well that many times they were beating him to his spots and forcing him to pick up his dribble and force bad passes, shots, turnovers.
The Nets defended Embiid almost perfectly except a couple bad fouls. They mixed up how they were doubling/trapping well and Embiid didn't have the same defensive look 2 possessions in a row. Of course in a 7 game series, he'll probably figure it out eventually but by then the series might be over. Again, Harden and to a lesser extent Maxey has to win 1v1 on their matchups and hit open shots.
Also Thybulle not being able to shoot is a gigantic liability. Yikes. The Nets were not guarding him whenever he was on a perimeter and because he never handles the ball he i a total non-threat in the half court except for of ball cuts. This allows the Nets to clog the paint and make everyone else work way too hard for their pts. That's why Niang played a to but he's a sieve defensively and a streaky shooter. I'm sure they'll start Danny Green instead but is he really an upgrade?
I'm not going to overreact because I'm a little doubtful the Nets will have this level of intensity every game but the writing is on the wall here. The matchup just don't favor the Sixers unless Harden looks like Harden from 2 years and ago and Danny Green suddenly is not washed.

If the nets play with that intensity. No one is gonna to beat them. Not the sixers. Not the bucks. Not the heat. I’ve never seen kyrie play defense like that ever. Period
This is what we mean by nba teams only play playoff intensity effort 10-12 times a year and clearly nets brought it on Thursday.
The nets (well no one has an answer for embiid. This season). But he’s not gonna to beat a single team by himself.
So it’s really up to harden to keep things in check and he didn’t have it. Looked slow and clumsy on some drives. No space to hit jumpers.
And yes. Thybulle is pretty useless in a game like Thursday. Danny Green is washed up but if doc rivers has no choice. Some Danny green outside shooting is better than zero outside shooting from thybulle.

Kyrie has always been a fantastic on-ball defender and overall good defender. he just only tries on D when its important. He was fantastic in the playoffs last year vs. middleton. He really only struggles defending bigs in the post.
go watch the 2016 and 2017 finals.

I alluded to this on the Sixer board as well. I can see Harden opting out in hopes he gets extended; if Philly was smart, they would tell him to kick rocks. At that point, Harden would be screwed and humiliated due to not signing an extension this past offseason. If Harden lots out, he may have to settle for a Scrhroeder type deal in no where land.
