I remember when people say on here he is pretty bad defensively. Laughable.

The most impressive part about tonight is that he was extremely efficient, finishing with a 59 TS% and just 1 TOV. With all of the responsibility of running the offence with some highlight reel passes thrown in while also creating his own offence and doing everything on the defensive end, you would expect a few more misses and/or 4-5 turnovers for a rookie.

We've had a lot of great individual performances this season (FVV's outburst against the Jazz as well as a couple 30-point games where he came up clutch early in the year, Siakam with a handful of ~30-point and near triple-double games, GTJ with 42 points twice, OG with 36 against the Knicks, etc.), but this was probably a top 5 individual Raptor performance this season. Just a completely masterful game.

I honestly don’t care if he wins it or not (in my mind he’s the ROY lol) but it would be cool to see.

In my mind Scottie is the Rookie of the Year. It is based on what he does night in night out- guarding the other team's best players, his defensive intensity, rebounding, playmaking, efficient scoring rate and all around play. I think Cade will get the award based on his offensive stats. However, he is the centre of attention in Detroit, and has the keys to the Pistons Offense. He is the first option, and the ball is in his hands when he is on the floor. The same cannot be said about Barnes.

Barnes has a skillset similar to Jason Kidd in a 6'9 body,
coaches wont know wtf to do once the game actually slows down

I don't think anyone has ever said he is bad defensively lol. He has had some bad defensive games (a couple early season games against the Bulls, Celtics, Warriors and Pistons come to mind) that are rightfully pointed out and he still tends to play a bit too aggressively on certain players that he really shouldn't be pressed right up against, but his defence has been noticeably improving as of the new year. He is definitely learning at a rapid rate how to defend in the NBA.

He is a rookie that has insane defensive responsibilities (as seen by his defensive versatility stats), but he has been a fairly neutral defensive impact player that has a knack for coming up with clutch defensive plays. That is by no means a bad thing; in fact, it is extremely impressive that his defensive numbers are so average against some of the best players in the league -- especially considering all that he does on the defensive end from possession to possession.

No, actually plenty of people said he is bad defensively, both in this thread and several post game threads. You can even go through the Suns game thread from last night.

He makes the most mistakes on rotations and assignments of the starters but that's expected for a rookie. Our defense is a juggernaut for guys to adapt to.

He was tremendous against the Nuggets and he got to Jokic big time. Jokic was getting really chippy with Scottie towards the end there, and it seemed to be out of pure frustration, neither he nor the team could do anything with Scottie.

We could see him take the reigns as early as next season. He looked, as he has many times this season, like a 1st option out there tonight.

Mini Giannis coming along nicely with a near triple dub
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

He is basically Ben Simmons with better work ethic…raptors tried to trade for ben Simmons twice; but officially settled for Scottie Barnes

He's going to be a very, very good player. Rookies simply just don't do the stuff he's done in the past two games very often.

He's going to play in his idol's park next game
funny to see his performance
Believe he'll try to show some "surprising" pass(good or bad) in that arena

Scottie is averaging 5.1 APG in the 10 games Fred has missed.

No. The fact that people are even saying Cade is ahead of Barnes shows that there aren't really a lot of people watching Barnes other than when the Raptors face their favourite teams. Like I said, these awards for the most part have little value when those who are voting aren't actually doing any serious analysis before voting.

Once his shot is consistent combined with how strong he is around the rim... Unguardable

This is Barnes best game of the season so far. Absolutely bonkers. No weaknesses in this game. True 2-way game. Frustrate the reigning MVP Joker so much that he resort to cheap shots. Thats pinnacle.

You got something there. The ball moves better without Fred.
