I'm getting more and more concerned for Simmons.

How in the world is he supposed to be ready for a playoff run?

He hasn't even started practicing 1 on 0 yet! Forget 1 on 1. Or 3 on 3. He is not CLOSE to ready.

And hes just supposed to be ready for playoff intensity basketball in a month? It seems virtually impossible.

Simmons has **** us over by not being ready to play this year. He was not at all transparent. Its time to admit it.

Would we really trade Harden for him if we knew he wouldn't play this year or help us?

Might as well have done a three team trade and flipped him for some real assets.

Y'all tripping. Cam was horrible and does not look right. Glad he didn't play much.

If we’re to take this at face value, why wasn’t he staying ready knowing that he could be traded at any moment? He has no intention of playing this season imo.

I don't really believe hes not ready. Simmons was working out all season. We know this from reporting,

How serious could this back injury be that he can't even practice 1 on 1? Seems absolutely absurd.

He just doesn't want to play mentally. Thats the truth.

KD is playing 40 minutes and Simmons doesn't want to help.

This is what we got back for Harden. Not looking good at all.

I agree 100%. This was why I didn’t want Simmons and I wanted us to try to make things work with Harden.

Harden’s impatience might have cost him a ring. He ain’t going nowhere with the 76ers.

If we had KD playing like this and Harden, nobody was beating us. Didn't matter the seed.

Harden is an idiot. Ruined his and our chances.

Now we have to rely on mental headcase Simmons.

Is there a reason you all are just ignoring the back issue??

You need time with back soreness. How you guys are formulating these crazy takes that he doesn't want to play is beyond me.

A back injury is no joke. Why are we even having this discussion?

And it's SAD we have ppl still wishing Harden was here. WTF????

Exactly! I don't understand it.

Back injuries are the worse and can nuke careers. The last thing the Nets want to do is break a new toy they just got before ever using it.

He's had back soreness in Philly. It's something that needs to be managed. That's all. Once he can give it a go w/o any back stuff, he'll practice fully and be on the court quickly. If there are no setbacks, he'll be back by the Portland game.

Exactly. We were without our starting SG and Kyrie/Ben. Every win counts.

I think Simmons at least wants to be in BKLYN, whereas James “Jellybelly” Harden did not want to be. I’m glad he’s gone and I’m an OG fan from when he was here in OKC. He’s soured me over the years.

I understand that Simmons might not see the floor this season and that’s fine with me, but I would make the trade 10/10 times, not just for Simmons, but Curry, Drummond, and the picks. The Nets are already better off without James Harden pouting his way to his next destination.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

I myself have a history of back issues I know the pain (no pun intended). My problem is and imo I think he’s faking it and/or using it as an excuse to not play. I could be wrong of course but that’s just my feelings. I also understand that Harden had to go BUT a part of me wished we could’ve worked things out with him because he’s a top 5 talent.

He didn't look top 5 when Kyrie was tearing his ass up

Doesn’t change that he’s a top 5 talent. But it’s a moot point now.

I'm always wary of trusting my feelings when there's such limited information. But that said:

Nash said just the other day that Ben's getting back treatment currently, and is expected to work on that and conditioning next, with an eye towards limited practice soon. So Simmons is at least showing up, attending games, attending team functions, working with trainers.

If he really didn't want to play, he probably wouldn't need to to more than to phone it in and say he was still working on issues with his counsellor, etc. Marks wouldn't be thrilled, but no way I see him fining Simmons or putting undo pressure on him to come back soon.

IMO the Nets are doing all the right things with Ben (being patient and supportive), and that Sixers shellacking must have meant the world to him, the way the team took things personally on his behalf.

I think Simmons will be back for the playoffs, and maybe even a little earlier. That's not 100% ideal, but it's a lot better than some alternatives.

In good news, Harden just posted an inefficient 5/19 in a narrow two point victory over the Tragic. Sixer fans, I hope, are beginning to realize he was not the answer. It will be a delightful off season when he gets his extension refused…… Of course, only if Philly is smart.
