Agreed, I just changed it.

This is really politics at its worst. It looks like Adams wants to use Kyrie to prove he is a hard line mayor who won't cave to special interest. This is going to backfire on him if the media including social media hammer away about how ridiculous it really is.

Adam Silver really needs to do more.

When people who have killed kyrie all year start flipping to his side, you know its time to change something.

I still don't understand whats going on. Everything I've read regarding the rule basically says Kyrie should be allowed to play now. It doesn't make sense that he can practice with us but not play. At least from the wording of the rule I read. Following the NBA testing protocol for unvaccinated players seems like the "reasonable accommodation" required to allow someone to work without putting anyone in danger (mandate wording). It seems like the city is just singling out Kyrie at this point.

Adams keeps talking about the optics of letting Kyrie play. Then in the same sentence, he talks about how dumb the rule is and how it makes no sense. Those are some terrible optics.

If the Nets aren't willing to fight this, talk to the NBA, and just eat whatever fines come with this - I don't think Kyrie plays at home this year. I was optimistic they'd change things but it seems like the city has it out for Kyrie. Don't expect the rule to change until the off-season.

This is nothing about science and numbers at this point. Adams is playing political games and the Nets need to either sue the city or defy the mandate.

I cannot for the life of me understand how NYC Dems nominated this corrupt jackass.

NBA has come out and said teams can't defy local mandate or that player will be ineligible to play by the league.

Irrelevant.

That was at the height of the pandemic and before Adam Silver came out publicly and told NYC/Adams that their mandate is nonsense. There are only 3 paths from here:

1) The Nets know something we don't, exemption or mandate will be coming before the playoffs start.
2) Litigation or defiance of the mandate
3) NBA/Nets take it to the court of public opinion, constantly show kyries face in barclays and interview him asking why he cant check into the game but can sit courtside unmasked next to tons of unvaccinated unmasked fans in the arena

id assume its number 1. but we will know in a few hours if its #3

I know both our poets are outdated now that Adams talked but regarding Silver...I agree that he thinks the rule is dumb, which it is. I also think it's extremely unlikely a commissioner of one of the major leagues signs off on a team breaking the law, regardless of if they are willing to pay the fine.

Woj just said everything the mayor's office is saying privately is that the mandate would be lifted and Kyrie would play.

While that may be true it's starting to feel lose faith they won't lift it until after the playoffs when it won't matter anymore.

Time to sue. Joe Tsai needs to get off his ass

How does Adams not realize how much of a fool he looks??

Politicians really are the worse.

Multiple things can be true all at the same time:
1) Kyrie should get vaxxed
2) Getting vaxxed is not as critical as it was months ago
3) The mandate is garbage and "protects" no one

OT but it sucks seeing a black mayor look so glaringly incompetent. Hate to see it. Never really like him as Brooklyn borough pres and he just failed his way up.

Again, I have no clue how he made it out of the Dem primary. He's an ass hole, and it's not just about this issue. Adams is a dick

Truly one of the dumbest things I can recall.

Can practice
Can go to the arena and not wear a mask
Cant play
Can't sit next to team

Zero science behind this at all. Truly just them flexing power at this point.

Adams is the establishment candidate. I was already getting fed up when he was pushing office workers to go back to Manhattan.

He wasn't hired to change things, he was hired to maintain the status quo.

Adams looks like a moron to the whole country right now.

He is taking away the good he is doing by lifting the mandates by not budging on this issue. What is his problem?

The Nets have been patient enough. Waiting for NYC to repeal its rule.

Now the situation has just become absurd. Time to let Kyrie play and pay the fines.

This rule is beyond stupid. **** Eric Adams.

Adams has shown no indication he will repeal the rule.

Being nice isn't working. Time to publicly shame him and put more pressure.

If this hurts him politically he will budge.

A while ago I would have agreed but now this man has proved he is willing to make himself look a fool. It seems like we have tried to
let common sense prevail but he is prepared to stand by a mandate that he has made worse while admitting that the original mandate was unfair. Playing nice hasn't worked and I honestly think he will change it when the season is over and try and do it quietly. I think our last option is to come out swinging, KD has called him out as are the media and just noticed Lebron has tweeted about it with the hashtag #FreeKyrie.

People die from Flu complications it has never stopped a player in NBA history from playing if they have the Flu. People dying from Covid also usually die from complications of it as well. It's here to stay like the Flu it's not going anywhere but a simple freaking test before the game should be enough to let the man play. He doesn't want to get vaccinated fine make him pay for it with having to get tested all the time and before the game. People are overly paranoid about this and I get it but the politicians just like to show off their power with all this nonsense. People will have to get Flu and Covid vaccines every year now. It's a part of life.

Just sick of politicians dictating how people should be able to live their life over a virus.

This is what happens when you elect cops. Adams isn't doing this because of the science, he's power tripping.

The Nets need to sue the city or better yet, openly defy the mandate and dare him to do something. What's he going to do, have Kyrie arrested on national television?

I am a huge proponent of vaccinations and I believe that Kyrie should get vaccinated.

However, this has zero to do with science. It's 100% political. This has nothing to do with safety or public health if he was sitting there maskless courtside today

Also think about the ramifications if Adams repeals the mandate. Thousands of workers have already been fired for being unvaccinated. Will they get their jobs back?

Kyrie is in a privileged position by being able to keep his job. This could be a bad look if Adams makes an exception for one person. Everyone is focused on Kyrie and not the rest of NYC where people lost everything due to their stance.

This is just a bad situation overall and I wish Kyrie was traded instead to avoid this circus
