The 1pm start probably threw Dragic's body clock off. Mills back to being Potty just when sCurry hurt his ankle during pregame warm-ups is just so typical of Nets' luck.

When almost nobody else but KD was willing to shoot, then despite a bad first half it still would've been a reasonable gamble to keep giving Cam looks in the second half in the hopes that he goes off late like he did last time against this same team.

The Slim Reaper proved once again that he can almost single-handedly carry the team to wins. I say almost because Dre was also solid in this game and Brown was his usual Swiss-knifing self.

Now Nash putting Blake in for 2 seconds? That's just cruel... The usual DNP-CD would've been a more dignified punishment. It's as if Nash maliciously embarrassed him out there after Blake deigned to drop the slightest hint of displeasure in an obscure comment to Jevon Carter's Instagram post.

I could be wrong of course but that’s just my feelings. I also understand that Harden had to go BUT a part of me wished we could’ve worked things out with him because he’s a top 5 talent.

I'm always wary of trusting my feelings when there's such limited information. But that said:

Nash said just the other day that Ben's getting back treatment currently, and is expected to work on that and conditioning next, with an eye towards limited practice soon. So Simmons is at least showing up, attending games, attending team functions, working with trainers.

If he really didn't want to play, he probably wouldn't need to to more than to phone it in and say he was still working on issues with his counsellor, etc. Marks wouldn't be thrilled, but no way I see him fining Simmons or putting undo pressure on him to come back soon.

IMO the Nets are doing all the right things with Ben (being patient and supportive), and that Sixers shellacking must have meant the world to him, the way the team took things personally on his behalf.

I think Simmons will be back for the playoffs, and maybe even a little earlier. That's not 100% ideal, but it's a lot better than some alternatives.

Nash also said the Nets weren’t trading Harden….

Consider the context.

Nash is a coaching underlying to the GM. You can't assume he knows everything the GM is up to, and the trade was also a late-developer IIRC. Meanwhile he's in charge of keeping the ship on an even keel, limiting turmoil. Saying that he believes no big trades would be happening wasn't wrong and had a purpose.

Flash ahead to this situation, and Nash deliberately lying about Simmons progress only puts more pressure on Ben, and makes the real recovery timeline look worse. There's no point in saying that other than for the briefest of conveniences. Nash may be a poor coach, but I don't think he's stupid, short-sighted or dishonest.

man we needed this win bad. KD is a god. one of the worst coached games of the year and Thibs pulled out the ace up his sleeve doubling KD late knowing KD is awful passing out of double teams.

That KD three was cold blooded.

every win is huge and glad to see the players realize it. Losing steph was big. hopefully he is back vs. orlando.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
