He definitely bulked up during his last year. The guns are real. It'll be interesting to see if he can hold ground better.

I haven't watched today's game yet, but watching vs. Stockton I thought his teammates seemed pretty unschooled in playing with a low-post big and failed to get him the ball very much. (They were also chucking and not hitting from deep, which meant the rebounds bounced way out, which is why Chiozza of all people led the team in rebounds.) He did change a lot of shots just by being in the lane defensively, which is one of the things we hope to get from him.

He has a ton of talent, but he has a loooong ways to go. He's still trying to do way too much and his awareness needs to improve. His team defense looked slightly better, but he'll still get cooked or foul if he's trying to defend 1on1 against any skilled offensive player. I don't really see him getting minutes in the playoffs unless our bigs are in foul trouble or get injured.

I'm not worried. He's going to fill a need just by being so damn big and so damn long in the arm. A full training camp, playing with Draymond and Loon, should teach him a lot. This year, he can just clog the lane and it will be an improvement over what we've been doing when Looney's out.

He'll be traded in the offseason. He's amongst the most uninstinctual players in the whole league and prob doesn't have enough of a physical advantage over the players he'll be matched against to make use of his best qualities

There is absolutely no chance that they will trade him in the off season.

Just having the size to use in small stints for Looney and/or Draymond will be important (even for small stints in the playoffs). He has a ways to go, but I'll take him over what we're getting from Bjelica here and now. That's the player who is officially out of any rotation.

He should be back either tomorrow or later in the week, so at least he will get a few weeks to get some looks.

More importantly, the big 3 all play tomorrow.

Is there any chance he plays tomorrow? Seems more likely he returns again either Boston or San Antonio.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Love to see him emulate NBA basketball by getting rebounds....and PASSING it to a guard EVERY time.

It's fun to watch him dribble the floor but it's a bad habit Warriors have 4 guys on the floor that will always do that better.

I'm being picky....but he should show that discipline.

He looks stronger physically which was the area I thought he needed most. I think he will help a lot in terms of adding some size on the floor.

Wiseman vs the Ignite Sunday Afternoon
His offensive rebounding looked very good.
His 2 blocks that I saw looked good.
His fancy dribble looked good but I am not sure I want him fancy dribbling in the NBA this year.
I think Wiseman loves dribbling.
He hit a 3 that he should have missed. He shot it way too long but it was straight and it bouned off the backboard and into the net.

Agree on basically everything.
In fairness to him though, the "fancy dribbling" was a long rebound and he had just gotten possession of the ball before the guard tried to steal it. Dribbling behind the back was the right play. If he stopped, it would have been a turnover. If he dribbled it in front of him it wouldve probably been stolen. I guess he could have tried a touch pass off the rebound while running up court but that seems much riskier than just taking it behind the back.

Agree though that I think he wants to do more.

He is huge, and athletic with it, which can’t be taught. He hardly needs to jump to dunk. Whether he will develop to fit the Curry/Klay/Dray timeline I don’t know, but Damien Jones is a serviceable Center now and imo Wiseman still has way more potential than him.

I just wish he would concentrate hard on defense/rebounding. He hurts his value by trying to be an A-list big man that demands solo touches. If he became a better version of Looney his value would be immense. If he keeps trying to be an offensive focal point he won't reach his potential with us. We're rarely going to want him to try to do solo moves in the post/take mid range jumpers.

I know it's early to make judgements with how he'll play with the big team but I think he still has his heart set on trying to be an A-list big man *now* which is a bit frustrating.

Yea I don’t get why he’s taking 3’s, trying to take guys off the dribble, and bringing the ball up full court. They said they were going to simplify his game and he’s out there acting like he’s prime Giannis. He shouldn’t be handling the ball enough to have 5 turnovers and miss half his shots. It reminds me of when Dwight demanded post touches every night even though he sucked at it.

/shrug It's the G-League.

Both Kuminga and Moody played like they're #1 guys with the G-League as well, and in Kuminga's case, he was an inefficient scorer in the role.

If Wiseman is forcing self-created shots with the NBA club, it's definitely a problem. Can't tell either way until he gets that time with the big club though. FWIW, Wiseman's post-game comments talked about how he wants to work on his passing and focus on his defense and rebounding, so he's saying the right things at least.

One of Kuminga’s roles with the big squad is shot creation. He does a lot of that, and looks like a young Karl Malone. When Wiseman tries it he looks like a baby giraffe about to trip over himself. He either throws up a wild shot or he gets stripped and turns it over.

He looked like a guy who has played as many games as he has coming back from injury. There are some flashes of what he could be.

Most of his problems is trying to do too much too soon. JK used to try all this stuff like early in the season but now he just makes the simple easy right play.

^ It was clear immediately that Kuminga had natural IQ.. he just thought he could out physical opponents like he had done before the NBA.. Kerr let him try and fail and then he adapted rather quickly.. Wiseman looks like the exact same player from when he was at Memphis
