Becouse he is 6'10 and has better rookie season at 20 than Klay at 21. Obviously Thompson played with great players which masked his deficiences and is elite shooter which Wagner currently isnt but i pointed that out.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

He is only SF on roster, same roster that has Cole, Fultz, Suggs, Hampton, Terrence Ross all slotted at PG-SG spot.

He is not Klay Thompson, Klay was smaller and much better spot up shooter, Franz is player that can shoot, but shooting isn't his only strenght nor his shooting is Klay Thompson -level good.
There is no reason to not belive Franz will become +37% three point shooter, but today he is definition of league's average outside shooter ( where Klay entered nba as rookie and was 41,4% three point shooter and over same amount of games Wagner played now, made 23 threes more, on higher percentage).

Franz is versitale player, he should be our SF for at least next 7 years ( hopefully more). Magic are desparete for perimeter shooting and scoring, finding SG who fits need is far more important than play Wagner out of position. And in general it's way easier to find great scoring& shooting SG than SF ( and draft, nor free agency will give Magic such player )

And-1

Two add: F-Wagner would be torn apart on the defensive end. And would not help the resultant forwards.

For me a better question could be, "is F-Wagner a point-F allowing two combo guards to start"?
I can absolutely see F-Wagner as the lead on ball handling. His upside is a mini-Pippen type. He absolutely should be used in that role.

Which leads to a second question: should the Magic use the triangle in some offensive sets? F-Wagner has the skills too lead such a complex pattern.

Try to justify it any way you want, but to think someone has more potential to be better than one of the top 10-15 players of the past decade is the very definition of a homer, maybe the biggest homer quote on this board ever

Like you do realize that not only is he one of the best shooters in league history and legit go-to scorer, but hes an elite wing defender too. But sure ok Wagner will be even better than him because hes taller. ok cool good to know

Please no. Remember Mo Harkless was suppose to be our next SG also? This idea needs to die quickly and I'm hoping WeHam doesn't share the same vision.

Franz has already played some SG and if we weren't so stacked at guard he'd get a lot more minutes. When he was drafted, over half the board thought he'd only be able to play PF.

I'm not part of the coaching staff or front office so of course anything possible, but this notion of Franz playing SG is silly. This is just fantasy, shiny new toy, 2K stuff made up in your guys heads. Now for small stretches, due to special situations and opposing lineups, could Franz be a pseudo SG (ex. an all switching type lineup), then sure. But the thought of Franz being a fixture at SG I hope is just limited to a few here.

This means nothing. We're nowhere close to being a finished product. So just because you "saw" him play SG. It's all trial and error, things are going to be fluid.

See how well he did yesterday against Harden, no doubt he can defend the SG in this league
Suggs, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, Jett
Franz, TDS,
P5, JI, Panda

If we land the 1st pick, i think we could go the Cavaliers route and draft Jabari smith and move Franz to the SG spot

Fultz,suggs,cole, VET PG
Franz,suggs,cole,ross
Jabari,franz,chuma,RJ
WCJ,JI,Jabari
JI,Bamba,WCJ,ROLO

LONG, young team that can Defend, switch and spread the floor

Core players:
Fultz
Suggs
Franz
Jabari
Chuma
WCJ
JI
Bamba
Cole

Bench
Moritz
Rolo
RJ
Ross (to be traded for assets)
Vet PG(willing to have a ROLO type of role)
Suggs, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, Jett
Franz, TDS,
P5, JI, Panda
Wcj, Goga, Moe

Return to Orlando Magic
