Looks like, but it may depend what he's looking at on the open market. He's got some pass-rush juice, but he's still more or less a two-down player. And we've got Armstead on a huge contract, and Kinlaw as a recent, fairly high first-round pick. Those guys need to be playing, and we supplement them with cheap depth like Hurst and Givens.

I'd like to look to replace DJ Jones with Tim Settle from WAS. Similar player, shown flashes but plays on a deep DL and hasn't flashed DJ like moves but is disruptive.

How confident are you with Kinlaw and his surgically repaired knee being a solid contributor?

Not, but we've got to find places to save money, and NT is probably one where we can make do without paying a guy $8 million/year.

Watson cleared of criminal charges. Talk about AWFUL timing. It's like the entire world is conspiring to prevent us from trading Jimmy....

And yes, I realize that's a pretty absurd and petty way to view something that's a big deal in a lot of people's actual lives, but I'm not above a little pettiness where the Niners are concerned.

Yeah it sucks, but I think that we expected this. Everyone was waiting for this as Watson was 3rd on the pecking order. It doesn’t help with Jimmy did his best to sabotage his trade value.

I still think it’s the Colts for Jimmy though. There’s 0 chance that Houston would trade Watson to the Colts.

And now Brady is coming back. Ha! Kind of figured he couldn't stay away, and TB wasn't a very realistic landing spot for Jimmy, but yet another team that's set at QB for now.

Shot in the dark QB carousel:

Watson to NO, Garoppolo to PIT, Trubisky to NYG, Trubisky in a battle vs. Jones. The price tag on Jimmy? 3rd round pick and a conditional 3 that can become a 2 in 2023 is my guess. Maybe 2 and a conditional 2023 4/3 is another range.

Colts - they can afford 2 vets in a battle. Mariota may be one. If not, are they in on Jimmy G? Feels like NO/PIT are more advanced than them.

Panthers - Plan B is supposedly Malik Willis.

Seahawks - They like Lock, but I think they draft someone. Matt Corral after a trade down of a few picks, I don't think he's going top 15 but he's probably seen as QB2 post-Combine.

Make no mistake, the 49ers are likely going to look for a Lance backup. Sudfeld has never been more than a QB3 in Philly or SF.

Alex Cappa to Cincinnati, Chase Edmonds to Miami are the first 2 FA agreements.

Mitchell Trubisky agrees to a deal with Steelers. A team off the board.

We'll see, but it seems like they might be misplaying the trade market for Jimmy. If they really turned down a second, that could look incredibly dumb in a couple days' time.

Jaguars have had 3 agreements in the last 20 minutes. G Brandon Scherff, LB Foye Oluokun, and DT Foley Fatukasi.

WR Christian Kirk agrees to a deal with Jacksonville. Been a busy hour for them.

Was hoping we could get Tomlinson to return but $13M/year is too rich for us. I guess it is time for Aaron Banks to prove he's ready for the big stage.

49ers should be in the market for a RG with Banks likely placed at LG. Maybe Corbett from the Rams? I think his value is around 8M AAV.

49ers mentioned as one of the teams interested in WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Tall, lanky, deep threat, but meh, hands of stone.

I'd rather have a WR that can return kicks

Feels like the 49ers are looking for both. They want a deep threat #3 and another WR that can be a returner.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
