Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 21-22 Vol. 3
Dipo is going to have to make it through a full year before anyone around the league commits anything significant long term. My guess is another one year deal with a raise using his bird rights. He’ll assume Herro’s 6th man role and continue to build his value. Duncan most likely gets dealt with a 1st round pick or two for a young PF making much less. They’ll revisit Christian Wood and PJ Washington.

Time for our boy Tyler to start next year. Our turd qtr slow starts are infuriating, he needs to start right away.

Sadly have to agree that Duncan is the weak link, guy just couldn't improve enough defensively or diversify his offense. Not looking like a Heat player or a starter on a contender.
Herro should start in his place, Dipo then can take over the bench mob and shoot for 6th man - if he has that in him.
Then we need to finally address the PF spot and finally add a real starter with size, shooting and energy. Seems to make sense to use Duncan's contract in a trade to get that player. Sadly it looks like we'll need to add a sweetener in order to pull off such a trade.
Maybe something around Duncan + Pick for C.Wood.
Lowry
Herro
Jimmy
Wood
Bam
Dipo 6th man. Bench of Vincent, Tucker, Strus, Martin, Yurt.
The year after that we might have to move Lowry in his final year due to salary and age.

PJ Washington will be making around 6m next season which makes the math unlikely in a Duncan swap. Mia would have to take on salary or find another team to facilitate the trade.
Wood will make a little over 14m which aligns much better with Duncan's 17m making the cap gymnastics a lot more feasible for Andy.
Grant (Det) will make around 20m and he's another guy to possibly target.

Heat crunch time stats:
6-way tie for 9th in Wins
27th in Off Rtg (4th in Def Rtg)
27th in Ast/To
28th in Tov %
24th in Reb %
Source: https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/clutch-advanced/?sort=W&dir=-1&Season=2021-22&SeasonType=Regular%20Season
----
To me, aside from Rebounding, these are all areas for Herro to improve and grow from. And Spo has been putting the ball in his hands in these situations, which means he's grooming him for the big moments in the playoffs.
Like many things, our success this season hinges on Herro making strides and developing quicker than what's normally expected from a 21/22yr old, especially from one who came in to the league as a SG and had to learn how to play PG.

Depends on how much they have in cap space. They could absorb more coming in and we can take less coming back. I assume we’ll be looking for a team with cap space to make something like this happen.

I like Brandon CLarke more than Washington. Grizz just paid Jaren Jackson, so I doubt Clarke is in the long term plans. I think he can be developed into the corner shooter like PJ while keeping the defensive ability to switch

I am worried, I haven't seen enough of this team together for them to master their role and chemistry. This team needs to be playing on all cylinders going into the playoffs not stumbling

Feel terrible for him. Needs help. And, yeah, I get it. He's had a ton of chances, more than most people. I mean... the Heat brought him back even to play center against the Kings.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 21-22 Vol. 3
Someone mentioned that they'd like to see Bam finish at 20ppg this season. Thought I'd keep y'all updated on that.
He has to average 23.2ppg from here on out (was lower before) to finish with 20ppg. Still doable for Bam, but that window is closing.
I also decided to check out how much for Herro to average 22ppg (currently at 20.9). He'd need to average 26.8ppg from here on out. Probably out of the question for Herro, but he should finish the season at 21ppg.

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 21-22 Vol. 3
The year was 2008. It was a warm sunny day in the Nevada dessert. The month of July hit like no other. The time was 9:45am. Michael Beasley still was not at the gym, despite his very first basketball workout with the Miami Heat training staff being scheduled for 8am that day. The very first summer league game of the off-season was right around the corner. WHERE WAS MICHAEL BEASLEY?
Spoelstra and the Heat coaching staff made their way to Beasley's hotel room, where they found him recovering from a recreational high. They proceeded to get him dressed and fed, and then escorted him to the training facility. Upon arrival - which was now over 120 minutes behind schedule - Michael began complaining about fatigue, and then insisted that he'll unlikely be able to finish the full range of physical activities that had been planned for him that day.
As the Heat coaching staff made their way into the gymnasium, they ran across the Oklahoma City Thunder training staff and had a quick glimpse of Russell Westbrook's highly intensive workout. Westbrook had been there since 7am and was still going full velocity. He was drenched in blood, sweat, and tears, and was still going at a pace never seen before.
That's when the Heat coaching staff realized they had fked up.

Damn, that's some serious allegations. Where's that from? I tried doing a search but couldn't find an article on it.

I knew similar stories. Michael is a good dude, wouldnt hurt a fly. He also a hard worker, but an unreliable guy because of drugs and alcohol. People around that time were very defensive about someone smoking weed on this board at that time. Beasley was unfortunaley a Weed Head. He was a Hooper as well, and the weed interferred with his professional life of hooping. You couldnt trust that he was gonna be mentally there. It was blantantly obvious during his Pheonix stint, where he was zoned out during games. Heat put him in rehab a few times and the public never knew until maybe his third time. His upbringing crippled him from learning how to be a professional. Some players know, its time to go to work and put down the play for later. Beas just never had that discipline in him.

Brandon Clarke shot was good and workable before that trainer killed it-- I hope he can recover from that
Yes, all-in on Brandon Clarke if that ever becomes viable. Clarke/Bam would be a terror on defense

I kind of wish Beasley stayed in China, i think he could of made an excellent career and money there.
