Is this team more likely to win a championship or implode?

Post#1 » by Shock Defeat » Tue Mar 15, 2022 10:13 pm

PG - Kyrie Irving
SG - JR Smith
SF - Ron Artest
PF - Josh Smith
C - Lamar Odom

If all of those guys were in their peaks, would they put it together in order to win a championship in today's NBA?

Easily a deep playoff team and has a slight shot at the chip.
Ron artest and Odom being the X factor and scoring will be pretty evenly divided among kyrie artest Josh smith and jr. finally Odom who will be more playing a draymond role.
Kyrie will probably be the main scorer by a 2-3 points.
Artest a beast defensively.
These guys are legit in their absolute best forms and are winners. Winning cures everything

Implode.

I dont think its even that good of a team. The spacing of that team wouldnt be good. The ball movement would be laughably bad. Who's your #2 scorer for that team? Odom? Ya they would easily implode before winning a championship.

Implode.

But... how about if we replace Odom with Pau Gasol? Pau is even a much better fit than Odom at Center, so surely that one move alone should make this team better? I'd like to know if it will turn this team into title contenders since some people think Pau was an All-Star.

This isn't even close to a championship caliber team.

Implode and it's not that good of a team to begin with I feel. No leadership at all. 2 Solid defenders and 3 horrible ones. I would have them as 2nd round exit.

They aren't even close to being a championship-contender so implode is the obvious choice given the combustible personalities.

Just about everyone thought the 2x Champion, 6x all-star, 2x All-Second team Pau Gasol was indeed an all-star

This would be a very highly entertaining team to watch, and it would implode. Also Kyrie would probably break having to carry that much of the scoring load every night instead of missing home games next to Durant

The old Kyrie - Artest - Odom “big 3”.

The problem with this team is they’re missing that top 5 MVP candidate guy that pushes everyone down a slot to their rightful spot on the pecking order.

Kyrie a great #2, Artest a great #3 and Odom a great #4.

Also a Smith Odom big man rotation gets absolutely obliterated on the boards and in the paint.

Floor spacing is also terrible.

Not a championship caliber team.

Kyrie sits out 67% of the games and comes back to demand the ball .. wild.
That building will implode.

PJ Carlesimo or George Karl for sure.

And Ron Artest is going to choke the hell out of someone. That much is guaranteed.

Jr Smith would make some dumb decision and it would make Kyrie completely check out.

So do you think this team would be title contenders? It compares very favorably in terms of talent to the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Lakers, right? After all... Pau and Artest are both there, JR Smith is an upgrade on Derek Fisher... although he plays a different position but Kyrie takes over PG duties, Josh Smith could be viewed as an upgrade on Odom/Bynum (?).
