Watson has played 5 seasons in the NFL

Three of those seasons his team won only 4 games.

As soon as his team started struggling he literally quit on the team. They couldn't trade him because teams were concerned he was going to prison for raping women. Now he gets rewarded with a fully guarented contract.

People respond to incentives. Watson has learned he can do whatever he wants without getting punished. There's no financial reward for trying or improving his game. If he doesnt like the direction the teams going he can quit again and the team has to pay him.

And best of all? Yesterday we were his fourth choice out of four teams. And the Baker **** broke so we made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

He isn't in Cleveland to win or succeed. He's here because he got the most ridiculous contract in NFL history.

Can you name 5 people who had 10+ people make claims against them? Watson has 22. Possible but unlikely these were all made up.

Yea but the difference is this is the most vague and easiest claim to make. That's why it was dropped. It's not like he was r@ping women. Anyone who gave him a massage can say that he dropped his towel and looked at me funny or some garbage. It's easy to be apart of that. There were others who gave him a massage that said he was professionalq

Whatever it takes to get people talking about the Browns, I guess.

great deal by the browns, probably overpaid but doesn’t matter as watson is a top 5 superstar qb when healthy. weren’t going anywhere with mediocre baker mayfield at qb.

This is a very blatant attempt at downplaying a signing by deliberately stating a misleading fact without applying context.

First off, Watson has only played four seasons in the NFL. He didn't play at all in the entire 2021 season. In that one season where he was the full time starter and his team won 4 games, he still led the league in passing yards. You can't sit there and tell me that isn't beneficial to Cleveland. Second, in the other two seasons where he was the full time QB, his team won 11 games both times. And now he's on a better team.

You can be upset that the Browns prefer to have a guy who may or may not have sexually assaulted multiple women (probably did), but come on now. You can't sit here and try to argue that this isn't a good thing for the Browns.

230 million guaranteed. That's wild. No way he's worth that but good for him. I have a feeling the browns are going to regret losing those 3 first round picks.

Good for him and the Brown. Watson is a great QB and most definitely the franchise QB that will take the Browns to the playoffs. Good for everybody involved.

Football is literally ran like a plantation. Glad to see a player get a big, fully guaranteed contract. A black player at that.

Yep. Watson chose financial windfall over winning. Saints would have been the best choice for winning. This just tells me who watson is, he’s about the money above everything else.

It's completely fair, $10M to each of the women and $10M for Deshaun.

To be fair I don't know all the details, if this is better or worse than Chauncey Billups hiring, etc.

It's like the Browns staff watched Draft Day, missed the message, where they check Bo Callahan's character and change course. The Browns just watched the first 5 minutes I guess, and thought they had it nailed, sent out 3 firsts and five picks.

I mean you can easily be against this without straight up contorting the stats.

He's been in the league for 5 seasons, only played in 4. Didn't play a single snap last season. Another one of those years was when he was a rookie and only started 6 games. Then the last was in 2020 when the team was a complete **** show and the only positive of the team was Watson.

If if you count Rodgers and Brady I think at worst he’s like top 8.

- Rodger
-Brady
-Mahomes
-Burrow
-Herbert
-Wilson
-Allen

So he’s for sure in this top tier IMO and we can argue all day about if you’d rather have Herbert or him for instance.

As a Browns fan:
-- I think the contract is fine. It's an overpay but he's young and this is far and away the most important position. If it makes you a contender, and it probably does, it's worth it.
-- that draft compensation is STEEP though. Yikes.
-- I wanna be hyped about this but the dude seems like a scumbag and now I'm actually less interested in this season than I would have been otherwise. I've a daughter. How the hell can I support this?
It's gross AF tbh.

I think you can put Murray in there (I personally would) and I'm sure some would put Lamar in there as well (I wouldn't). But when you consider the life of the contract, Brady will only be playing 1 more year most likely.

But ya I think you're looking at a 5-8ish QB for the length of that contract most likely.

I'm fine with an overpay if I'm the Browns since that franchise has never had a franchise QB.

Lol at some of these posts. Watson is a pure franchise QB. As long as the Browns don't make their surrounding team around him a dumpster fire, they'll be good.

Atlanta and New Orleans.

Plus the other thing to factor was prior to today the Texans had preferred to trade him out of the conference to not have to deal with him, but Cleveland stepped in and literally gave them the Eric Dickerson special(the Colts gave up 3 1sts, 2 2nds and a 3rd for him in 1987). Not gonna blame the Texans for taking that deal knowing the bridges have been permanently burned and quite frankly they were lucky to get that.

Now if they want and are smart, they should flip Baker Mayfield to Indianapolis and get as much draft capital as they can in order to rebuild the team. Gotta say Bill O'Brien AKA the butt chin literally set back this franchise by a decade and it's gonna take a miracle to turn things around. Gotta play this one for the Texans:

Watson is guaranteed to be better than Baker and that's it. Attempting to figure the Browns as contenders with Lamar and Burrow in the division, The entire AFC West and the Bills..I can't even lock them in the playoffs although they added an extra playoff team and Steelers are trash so the should get in. Might not even get a home game.

Watson had perhaps the best WR in the league for several years and won a whopping one playoff game. He's good but not upper echelon. Not a real floor raiser, either. Texans tanked last season and still won the same number of games as they did with Watson the year before.

Browns are probably gonna look mighty dumb in a few years.

Watson had an 8.9 ypa without Hopkins in his last year. What he did with that supporting cast was nothing short of remarkable. He has a strong argument as best player in the NFL.
