you don't like a contract that depreciates in value before it is even conceived?

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Before handing out a contract of that magnitude, don't you have to at least call a trusted fellow GM/industry-person on an uninvolved team to double check and make sure you're not crazy? That contract is such a huge mistake and could only be made in a vacuum.

When you have the chance to pay tens of millions to your star player to go away, and then sign someone worse and older who will cost you just as much, you obviously have to jump at the chance.

A prerequisite to be Rockies GM is that you have eighteen extended warranties on your 2003 Nissan Sentra from cold calls.

Thougt the Jansen - 1 year - 16 mill deal was a good pick up, could have fit our team well on a 1 year basis, give us a leverage reliver with no much term owed besides one year. Wonder why we weren't really interested?

goldberg is right. why not just sign correa then? correa/urshela is better than donaldson/kiner-falefa. small time energy in the bronx.

Orelvis with the start at 3B this afternoon. A little show for Cleveland? I would hate to lose him, but we are deep at SS.
Orelvis, Kirk, Gurriel is a pretty damn good package.

JP Morosi tweeted today that they basically consider him untouchable.

Orelvis, Kirk and Gurriel is a package we shouldn't be trading for anything short of a player with several years of team control.

Also, a reminder that players at SS in the lower minors are rarely shortstops in the majors. Orelvis definitely isn't. Neither are several of our other prospects.
